    Role description:
    Arcadis seeks an experienced Lead Traffic Engineer to join our team in Michigan.


    As the Lead Traffic Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing traffic engineering projects, ensuring the effective planning and design of transportation systems.

    You will lead a team of traffic engineers, collaborate with clients, and contribute to the development of innovative solutions to address traffic challenges.

    This position requires a strong background in traffic engineering, project management, and team leadership.


    Role Accountabilities :


    Lead and manage traffic engineering projects, ensuring they are completed within scope, budget, and schedule and develop project traffic and signal design criteria.

    Provide technical expertise and guidance to the project team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

    Supervise and mentor a team of traffic engineers, promoting professional development and knowledge sharing.

    Cultivate a positive team culture that emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and efficiency.

    Conduct traffic impact assessments, capacity analysis, and signal optimization.

    Develop and review transportation plans, signal plans, and traffic control plans.

    Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to traffic engineering.

    Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their traffic engineering needs and ensuring client satisfaction.

    Collaborate with clients to identify opportunities for additional services and support business development efforts.

    Implement and enforce quality control processes to guarantee the accuracy and precision of traffic engineering deliverables.

    Conduct thorough reviews of project documentation to identify and address potential issues.

    Stay updated on relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, ensuring projects adhere to safety and environmental guidelines.

    Effectively communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.

    Prepare and deliver technical presentations as needed.


    Required Qualifications :
    10+ years of experience in traffic engineering and project management.

    Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

    Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Michigan.


    Key Skills and Abilities :
    Working routinely with ORD and GEOPAK software

    Proven leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring engineering teams.

    Proficiency in traffic engineering software and tools such as SYNCHRO, VISSIM, or similar.

    Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

    Familiarity with Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) traffic engineering standards and procedures.


    Preferred Qualifications :
    Connected vehicle experience.

    Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions.

    These benefits include medical, dental, and vision, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program and optional benefits including wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement.

    We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $104,000 - $124,800
