Job Summary:
The Lath/Plaster Superintendent will oversee all phases of a construction project.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities:_
  • Communicates and enforces safety procedures and site rules.
  • Review project documents and scope of work to develop plan for effective execution of contract work.
  • Prepares work schedules and assignments.
  • Interviews and hires field employees.
  • Collaborate with Payroll/HR to approve timecards and requests for time off.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Always enforces company IIPP and code of safe practices on projects.
  • Conducts orientations with new employees on company policies in the field as it pertains to safety, tools, and quality.
  • Addresses any safety violations or other deficiencies and documents violations as they occur including writing up employees for violations.
  • Collaborates with other staff on preconstruction estimates and budgets for materials and labor for field perspective.
  • Develops a schedule and costeffective plan for completion of an assigned project.
  • Collaborates with project teams, management, general contractors, and subcontractors to ensure project docs, industry standards, and other regulations are met.
  • Ensures specifications and regulations outlined in project documents are followed.
  • Walks jobs in advance of work durations to pre inspect preceding work to coordinate and verify work is done to the requirements of the project documents. Conditions are documented and communicated with the company team and the general contractor prior to starting work. See attached forms.
  • Coordinates and schedules the work activities of tradespeople, subcontractors, and laborers, communicating to and via project foreperson to deliver instructions and project assignments as appropriate.
  • Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides progress reports to project teams and management; makes recommendations for necessary modifications.
  • Monitors manpower budget throughout the project and communicates variances as they occur.
  • Maintains records related to manpower, production, and inventory.
  • Collaborates with union representatives to answer questions and clarify procedures.
  • Supply their own tools and keep a stock of items readily available on their truck. See list below.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate a variety of people in different roles.
  • Extremely detail oriented.
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans.
  • Thorough understanding of legal requirements relating to construction and building sites.
  • Thorough understanding of quality building practices.
  • Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them.

Education and Experience:

  • At least ten years of experience in tile/stone or building trades required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
