As a
Nurse Manager, you will plan, coordinate and supervise the delivery of nursing care within the treatment facility at Southwood Interventions in Chicago.

Nurse Manager

Summary


This position is responsible for providing leadership and direction for operational planning, allocation of resources (staff, supplies, equipment and space), the development of service delivery standards, and the integration of quality improvement initiatives and risk management for health and behavioral health services throughout the region.

This position plays an active role in professional education, developing and implementing strategies to address utilization, and providing leadership and support.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Serves as a resource on healthcare treatment issues and provide guidance.
  • Supervises the medical department to ensure high quality patient care which includes scheduling and training assigned employees, evaluating their performance, developing action plans, and implementing corrective action as required.
  • Monitors assigned personnel submission of monthly reports for timeliness and accuracy and monitors and implements policy and procedures in order to ensure a productive work environment with mechanisms of accountability.
  • Monitors Risk Management activities for the facility and monitors the behavioral healthcare activities to ensure JCAHO accreditation and state, federal, or other regulatory standards are maintained.
  • Monitors the functioning of the medical department's activities to ensure efficient effective health promotion procedures and practices.
  • Utilizes appropriate clinical and managerial skills to enhance client care, contract compliance, and fiscal expectations.
  • Adheres to all regulations surrounding confidentiality, treatment expectations, and program development.
  • Identifies potential conflicts or problems and implements appropriate crisis intervention techniques to prevent or intervene in crisis situations in order to deter or impact effect of problem.
  • Works sufficient hours to ensure effective performance which includes being on 24hour call to handle emergency situations and coordinate response.
  • Serves as the infection control officer for the facility which includes monitoring the infection control activities and reporting significant findings to the Medical Director.
  • Communicates and collaborates with administration, finance, human resources, information services and other departments to ensure availability, accuracy and effectiveness of the delivery of health care services.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the state in which this position is located.
  • Three (3) years of nursing experience, including at least one (1) year as a nurse manager or director. Experience working with atrisk population preferred.
  • Experience in the management of multidisciplinary clinical programs and delivery of services in a multicultural environment is desirable.
  • Knowledge of pertinent accreditation bodies such as JCAHO is desirable.
  • Ability to speak clearly when interacting with others in person or while on the telephone. Must be able to ask questions when assignments are unclear or ambiguous.
  • Ability to complete assignments accurately and within the given deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and in group settings. Must be willing to lead the work of others.
