SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:


  • The City of San Marcos Finance Department is currently recruiting for a Part Time Customer Service Representative to provide excellent customer service while assisting the public at City Hall. Part time employment with the City of San Marcos is limited to no more than 999 hours per fiscal year and up to an average of 20 hours per week, depending on the department's needs and budgeted hours for the position.

Wednesday, June 12, 2024 (In person)_**Under supervision, performs a variety of clerical and routine duties in support of assigned Finance Department function area, including but not limited to typing, data entry, document preparation, filing documents and public contact - both in person and over the telephone; performs other related clerical work as assigned.


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:


  • The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices._
  • Prepares, maintains, and/or verifies a variety of accounting, financial, and statistical records, ledgers, logs, and files; gathers, assembles, tabulates, enters, checks, verifies, balances, adjusts, records, and files financial data; reviews information to ensure accurate reporting; resolves discrepancies; establishes and maintains various files and records.
  • Gathers and organizes data to assist staff in the preparation of reports and recommendations.
  • Balances and reconciles daily cash receipts; analyzes accounts to determine accuracy of records.
  • Receives, opens, time stamps, sorts, and distributes incoming and interdepartmental mail; prepares and distributes outgoing mail.
  • Assists with document processing, file management and research.
  • Organizes and maintains various administrative, reference, imaging, and followup files in accordance with the records retention policy.
  • Answers questions and provides information and assistance to other staff and the general public in a courteous manner; gathers information related to the collection of delinquent accounts; interprets and explains City ordinance or administrative policies; provides information within the area of assignment; resolves complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Locates and contacts customer for revenue collections; verifies payment plans; applies payments received from customers and/or outside collection agency.
  • Provides back up support for collections office and other accounting functions as required.
  • May perform a variety of clerical duties in support of assigned unit.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

Experience
Two years of responsible clerical and routine cashiering experience.
