About GiGi's Playhouse Sacramento


GiGi's Playhouse Sacramento, which opened in May 2021, is part of an international network of Down syndrome Achievement Centers offering FREE educational, therapeutic-based, and career building programs to individuals with Down syndrome of all ages - from prenatal diagnosis through adulthood.

GiGi's Playhouse currently has over 59 locations across North America and Mexico and is growing by several locations annually.


GiGi's Playhouse's mission is to change the way the world views Down syndrome and send a global message of acceptance for all.

We accomplish this through national campaigns, purposeful programs, and by empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the community.

All programs are FREE to participants and are therapeutic or educational in nature.

Each one of our programs is designed to work on specific skill development, including speech and language, literacy, socialization, and fine and gross motor skills.


Job Description:


The Site Director manages or oversees all aspects of the local Playhouse, such as general facility and equipment management, family engagement, community outreach, and communications.

Flexibility is key, with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities due to programs and special events.

While the bulk of the Site Director's work is inside the Playhouse, the role involves actively participating in fundraising efforts, engaging the community, and cultivating donor relationships.

Ultimately, the Site Director plays a vital role in ensuring the Playhouse's operations are funded and its impact is recognized within the community.


Primary goals for this role include:

  • Ensuring delivery of highest quality operational execution and outstanding customer experience.
  • Increasing funding through individual donors, sponsorships, inkind, and corporate support.
  • Deepening family engagement and connection with the Playhouse.
  • Maximizing awareness of GiGi's Playhouse and Down syndrome across the local community.

President or Vice President of the GiGi's Playhouse Sacramento Board of Managers


Essential Job Functions:

  • Facility Operations and Management
  • Fundraising and Development
  • Donor Stewardship and Family & Community Outreach donor acknowledgment, fundraisers and special events, networking, community outreach
  • Management of the Volunteer and Program Coordinator
  • GiGi's Playhouse Sacramento's other paid employee
  • General Administrative Duties & Playhouse (Office) Management
  • Marketing and Internal/External Communications
  • Foster and Maintain Collaborative & Professional Relationships with the GiGi's Playhouse National Office, the Local Board of Managers, Staff, Donors, Volunteers, Families, and Participants

Work Environment:

  • The work environment includes occasional exposure to outside weather conditions and moderate noise levels.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to oversee programming and attend special events.

  • Education and Management Experience or training: Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years' experience or training as a manager; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in fundraising and/or development is crucial for this position, as it necessitates the capability to foster donor relationships and execute successful fundraising initiatives.


  • Language Skills: Basic proficiency in analyzing data to develop and present written and verbal reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Computer Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms. Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) programs such as Salesforce.
  • Physical Demands: This job requires occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations can be provided for individuals with disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish
