Description

The position serves as a leader who is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency through the completion of all staff task assignments on assigned shift.

Serves as a working technician, performing all of the direct functions of a Sterile Processing Technician, with the additional duties required as Lead.


Core Competencies:

Performs Decontamination, Prep and Pack, Sterilization.

  • Assists with the identification and development of educational needs for staff as well as coordinating inservices with vendors.

Develops and provides guidance for new employee orientation, on the job training, in-service education and or facility quality assurance programs when needed.

Coaches and mentors co-workers through open positive communication to promote an environment of continuous learning and improvement.

Utilizes critical thinking and the chain of command within hospital and IMS regarding identified problems or issues to ensure proper communication and resolution.

Communicates any discrepancies to the appropriate sterile processing and OR personnel.

Reviews the surgery schedule and flow sheets to prioritize work flows and to ensure all loaner/rental trays are received, processed and delivered for the following day.

Assists with orientation and training of new sterile processing personnel.
Assigns and prioritizes the work of the sterile processing personnel in order to maintain efficient work flow.
Oversees staff competency and ensures all policies and procedures are followed relative to sterile processing.

Assists Supervisor in determining work priorities, ensuring that all tasks are accomplished in a timely manor by monitoring and directly the daily work actives of the Sterile Processing personnel.

Monitors and audits daily work processes and procedures.
Observes daily practices and identifies, corrects and provides appropriate training or retraining.

Degree

Program

  • High School Diploma/GED or Higher Education
  • General Studies

Experience:


Additional Information

  • Two (2) years related experience

License / Certification Requirements:


  • CRCST or CBSPD

Compensation Range
$ $40.32 / Hour
