Following the classroom learning, you will be provided with on-the-job training as this role gains proficiency in and performs the basics of Polysomnographic testing and associated intervention while under the direct supervision of a Polysomnographic Technician or Technologist.
The Polysomnographic Department at IU Health offers our team members opportunities to develop and grow their skills and scope of practice in Polysomnographic testing.
IU Health also offers opportunities for career and professional development for our staff that includes continued education and certification opportunities and tuition reimbursement.
High school diploma or GED plus 6 months of direct patient care experience or 1 year of related post-secondary education or current enrollment in an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis in polysomnography.- Orientation checkoffs completed within 90 days of hire.
- Competencies completed within 90 days of hire.
- AASM Modules completed within 180 days of hire.
- Attendance at monthly CEU presentations.
- Pass the board exam and become a credentialed (RPSGT) or certified by ABSM as a Registered Sleep Technologist within 2 years of hire.
- Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
