Summary


Perform or assists in performance of operating the drilling site, including basic maintenance of equipment, handling tools, moving pipe, operating heavy equipment and mixing job materials in a manner to achieve optimal safety, efficiency, quality, reliability, staff morale and teamwork by performing the duties listed in the following section.

This is a manual labor, physically intensive position with repetitive tasks.

All employees of Weisinger Incorporated must agree to perform work out of town or at night, on the weekends and on holidays with short notice and for an extended period as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The following list includes essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned. Perform all activities in accordance with all policies, principles, and procedures established by Department, Division and Weisinger Inc. Management and Board of Directors.
  • Completely review basic maintenance of drilling rig including mud tanks, mud pump, draw works, dog/tool house, engine, handling tools and supporting equipment (including crew truck, forklift, gravel machine, etc) before, during and after shift. Take care during operations to leave equipment in clean, operable condition.
  • Leave vehicles, equipment and tools in operable condition. Immediately report all maintenance issues to superintendent. Bring equipment and downhole tools to shop for repair. Communicate repair needs to machine shop and supervisor.
  • Operate vehicles and comply with all Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
  • If employee maintain a commercial driver's license, comply with all Texas Department of Transportation rules and regulations including but not limited to 37 Texas Administrative Code Chapter 4. This includes but isn't limited to maintaining time sheets/log book, completing pretrip inspections, observing safety laws, abiding by weight limits, and checking for current registrations on trucks and trailers.
  • Complete Driver Vehicle inspection reports and turn into box by time clock after each shift for applicable vehicles.
  • When moving equipment such as the forklift, air compressor, generators, contractor pump, pipe trailers, ditch witch, air hammers, etc., observe job site and assist as needed to prevent damage and destruction of equipment or property.
  • Use handling tools such as tongs and wrenches.
  • Store and care for all tools, spare parts, equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Perform basic housekeeping including disposal of garbage and organizing job site, crew truck and employee lockers before, during and after shift.
  • Mix drilling fluid, cement and chemicals.
  • Follow and ensure that employees follow all safety regulations, policies, principles and procedures, which includes all Texas Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
  • Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Immediately notify supervisor about injuries to self or crew members.
  • Display willingness to learn about drilling program and to operate drilling rig under direct supervision of Driller.
  • Must be available by a phone and be readily available to report to work as needed at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may include working in another role (ie rig hand) or in another department as needed.

Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma, GED equivalent or applicable experience.


Language Skills

  • Ability to speak, write, read and understand English required for basic job function.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical or safety procedures, manuals and standards.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers in standard units.


Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Analytical Equipment Skills
Ability to develop a working knowledge of basic analytical equipment including:

  • Measuring tape
- pH strips

  • Scales
  • Viscosity cup.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Have or obtain (within 90 days) a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License.

Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to take direction, learn quickly and perform daily or routine tasks without supervisory reminders.

Mechanically inclined.
