    Essential Duties


    • Develops and implements educational, religious, and spiritual programs for students from Yale College and the University's graduate and professional schools, and for other members of the University community. Plans, coordinates, and organizes community service and community building activities. 2. Works closely with the University Chaplain and all members of the chaplaincy team to create and implement multi-faith programs and other emerging initiatives. 3. Provides guidance and pastoral care to students and student groups on a range of religious, spiritual, and faith-based issues. Serves as a resource to students and other members of the University community. 4. Coordinates outreach and communication efforts including preparing and supervising the production of promotional materials and/or publications, website design and content, designing ads and fliers, and developing plans and schedules for release of publicity materials. 5. Serves on various committees and attends professional meetings, including but not limited to Yale Religious Ministries. 6. As needed, presides at weddings, memorial services, and other religious services and events. 7. May supervise exempt and non-exempt employees, as well as student employees and/or volunteers. 8. May perform other duties as assigned.
    Required Education and Experience


    Master's Degree in Divinity from a member seminary or divinity school of the Association of Theological Schools or an equivalent advanced degree in theology or religious studies from an accredited college/university and two years of experience in inter-religious work, work with young adults, and/or work in a higher education setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Position Focus:


    Reporting to the University Chaplain and working closely with the Director of Muslim Life/Muslim Chaplain, the Assistant Muslim Chaplain works with members of Yale's diverse Muslim community and actively supports the Chaplain's Office Muslim Life program.

    The Assistant Muslim Chaplain provides pastoral care and support to the Muslim community, particularly in women's spaces.

    They develop and provide programmatic support for the Muslim community on campus - organizing events, retreats, talks, conferences, iftars, Eid celebrations, etc.

    Under the leadership of the Director of Muslim Life/Muslim Chaplain, the Assistant Muslim Chaplain helps set the strategic direction for support of the campus Muslim community and may be called on to offer guidance and advise on issues of interest to that community.

    In addition, they provide leadership advisory support to Muslim student organizations including the Muslim Student Association, the Yale Black Muslim Student Association, the Grad Muslim Student Association, and other developing student groups.

    The Assistant Muslim Chaplain works closely and collaboratively with entire Chaplain's Office to support the religious and spiritual needs of the campus community.


    Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
    Demonstrated experience working with a diverse, multi-faceted Muslim community. Demonstrated experience working in a multi-religious situation.
