Buyer
The Buyer will work closely with all departments in the plant and interface daily with Corporate Purchasing and vendors.

This employee is a key communication contact to manage capital equipment purchases and interface with Accounting, Engineering, and other support departments both inside and outside the plant.


Key Duties are:

  • Review requisitions daily to confirm pricing, verify quota data in E-Maintenance, and accurate cost coding.
  • Review Department Weekly Inventories and determine supply needs
  • Daily interaction with vendors including obtaining quotes for parts and materials.
  • Work with maintenance staff to help source parts and solutions
  • Set up new customers/vendors in the Crown system
  • Place approved orders with selected vendors
  • Use AS400 to issue Purchase Orders
  • Separate requisitions end enters into the AS400 system;
  • Convert requisitions after approval to purchase orders.
  • Prepare purchase orders, requisitions, and document maintenance
  • Create blanket purchase orders in the E-Maintenance System.
  • Print, distribute, and confirm purchase orders to Accounts Payable and Purchasing.
  • Maintain inventory and other stock records, using an internal tracking system (E-Maintenance)
  • Enter parts into E-Maintenance and receive stock and ship parts
  • Conduct monthly cycle counts in conjunction with Physical Inventory (twice a year).
  • Provide updated Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to the vendor
  • Assist in training employees to utilize E-Maintenance.
  • Be a resource to acquire needed materials/parts in a timely & costeffective manner.
  • Maintain storeroom inventory costs to within budgeted numbers and oversee housekeeping policies
  • Participate in the daily plant production meetings and employee team meetings (as needed).
  • Interface with Engineering, plant resources, and Corporate to ensure smooth operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Two years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • MS Office (Excel and Word) and AS400 experience.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fastpaced environment, both as an independent contributor and as a team player
  • Ability to work with vendors and the corporate purchasing department
  • Professional communication skills
  • Detailoriented with accuracy in data entry
  • High level of organizational skills
  • Knowledge of inventory control policies and procedures following Sarbanes Oxley.
  • Ability to complete tasks on schedule while assisting others.
