Under general direction, coordinates, markets, implements, and monitors various programs intended to strengthen the community's economic base. Exercises no supervision.


Examples of Duties:


_Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:_

  • Performs professional level work for various business development programs in support of the City's economic development strategy;
  • Coordinates and implements the city's marketing strategy with various vendors and the City's Public Information Office;
  • Identifies opportunities for additional economic growth;
  • Assists with business attraction and marketing efforts;
  • Acts as point of contact for organizations, business, developers, property owners, and various other community members;
  • Conducts special studies; performs research and analysis; and prepares recommendations, documents and/or special reports;
  • Serves as ombudsperson to business and property owners and developers regarding City entitlement and permit processing;
  • Manages various projects related to economic growth as assigned;
  • Represents the City at various meetings and committees; and
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:


Education:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public or business administration, marketing or closely related field. For degrees obtained outside of the U.S., an official equivalency evaluation is required.

Experience:


  • Five years of professional experience in economic development, real estate, marketing, and/or public relations.

Licenses and Certificates:


  • Possession of, or ability to possess and maintain, a valid California driver's license at the time of appointment.

Special Requirements:


  • Essential functions and duties require the following physical abilities and work environment:_
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment; ability to travel to different sites and locations;
  • Regularly required to talk or hear. Required to sit, stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.
  • Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
