Description

We are searching for an energetic and personable Clinical Medical Assistant to join our team devoted to providing dermatology patient care and common dermatology procedures.

The MA will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.

The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.

This position is responsible for the following, but is not limited to:

  • Competency with practice management and electronic medical records (EMR) software
  • Obtaining accurate, precise personal and medical health information from patients
  • Formulating and delivering a clear and concise summary of patient chief complaints to physicians
  • Assisting physicians with patient exams, biopsies, surgical excisions, Mohs procedures, laser and cosmetic procedures, while maintaining sterile technique
  • Scribing during all visits including eprescribing medications
  • Preparing patients for surgery and cosmetic treatments including administering local anesthesia
  • Maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients and visitors
  • Performing blood draws
  • Communicating with doctors' offices, pharmacies, and patients
  • Scheduling patient visits and surgeries in accordance with providerspecific scheduling formats
  • Educating patients on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication usage, and procedures performed in office
  • Gaining a knowledge and understanding of cosmetic treatment options and skincare products offered with an ability to relay this information to patients
  • Assisting with the creation of promotional content for our website and social media
  • Marketing our practice to other referring practices, including site visits to other practices

Requirements:

(i) a high school diploma or equivalent degree;
(ii) graduated from an accredited program as a Certified Medical Assistant;
(iii) ability to interact and communicate well as a team and with others, in person or by telephone, including occasional difficult or frustrated customers or patients,

(iv) ability to report to work with consistent attendance prepared to work well in a fast-paced environment of a dermatology clinic.

(v) have attention to detail in their actions with the goal to provide the best patient care possible

(vi) possess and maintain a current CPR certification

(vii) Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work

(viii) Social perceptiveness and service-oriented

(ix) Excellent written and verbal communication skills

(x) Strong organizing and planning skills


Preferred Qualifications:
Currently certified/Registered Medical Assistant


Additionally:

  • 12 years of experience in a dermatology office setting.
  • Knowledge of common dermatology procedures and terminology
  • Experience with electronic medical programs.
  • A great team member
  • A great teacher being able to teach patients as well as other team members.

Physical Demands:
The following is required to adequately fulfill the role of the certified medical assistant:

  • Significant amount of walking
  • Assisting patients to and from the waiting room to the exam rooms, also be able to help patients climb up to and down from the exam table/chair
  • Being able to reach in shelves that are high overhead or down close to the floor to gather supplies and tools for the patient's visit and/or procedure.
  • Occasional heavy lifting may be required (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Data entry (typing) into a computer or tablet is required for documenting the patient visit or encounter.

Clinical Medical Assistants may be exposed to this occasionally but our practice strives to create a safe and enjoyable workplace.

Occasional exposure to certain hazardous chemicals and biological specimens is also expected, however the practice maintains strict protocols, employee training, and limits exposure to these agents in every way possible.
