PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting care, concern, and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner.
- Genuinely thanks each customer and invites them back.
- Assists customers by: (examples include)
- securing products that are out of reach
- loading or unloading heavy items
- making note of and passing along customer suggestions or requests
- performing other tasks in every way possible to enhance the shopping experience.
- Answers the store telephone promptly when asked to, and provides friendly, helpful service to customers who call.
- Works with coworkers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Analyze and resolve scanning issues, or assist associates in solving scanning problems.
- Access software to perform edits, update files, and print shelf tags.
- Researches scanning issues by utilizing store level databases and or communicating with pricing department at Store Support Center.
- Orders replacement labels on a weekly basis.
- Hangs replacement/description change labels received in weekly label packets.
- Verify accuracy of shelf tag pricing to front end pointofsale system.
- Ensures signage and temporary replacement labels meet Division standards, as well as comply with local regulatory guidelines in regards to unit pricing, expiration dates, and other label format issues.
- Performs daily technical scanning operations as defined by Division standards.
- Has the ability to train store personnel on various scanning duties.
- Responsible for executing batches in proper date and numeric sequence and order.
- Ensures markdown pricing is current, properly logged, and reviewed weekly.
- Conducts weekly commodity scan audits as scheduled or after completion of store reset; adjusts pricing and attribute discrepancies when found; runs necessary reports and files as proof of audit completion.
- Responds immediately to pricing correction directives sent from Division; ensures, with management assistance, such pricing corrections are being addressed quickly and thoroughly in their absence.
- Keeps all appropriate pricing records and paperwork for the designated amount of time defined by Division standards.
- Understands the Division Scan Price Guarantee and assists management in its implementation.
- Sorts and organizes entire label packet by date, department and aisle.
- Reviews, reconciles, and retains various Division reports.
- Researches discrepancies and makes corrections.
- Ensures pricing and scanning guidelines in the store while providing scan accuracy for weekly ads.
- Prints and hangs shelf tags for section resets.
- Assists with date checks, price checks, and overall quality control of the store.
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures, Safety and Sanitation regulations, and individual store guidelines.
- Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
- Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
- Protects associates and customers by removing potential hazards from the sales floor in a timely manner.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
(These are considered occasional in nature)
- May be asked to assist with overnight price changes, hanging tags
- Make signs as determined by management
- Helps with and may decorate for in store events and holidays.
- Assists in other areas of store as deemed necessary by the Store Director and permitted by Collective Bargaining Agreement(s).
- Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB:
- Ability to do simple addition and subtraction; copying figures, counting and recording.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and all Company pricing systems.
- Ability to adapt to new technology and be proficient in its operation.
- Must be able to understand and follow written, verbal or demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, and request supplies orally or in writing.
- Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with multiple variables as they are presented.
- Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
- Must be able to work shifts of varying length and times, including nights, weekends and holidays
