Description

The Senior Accountant performs accounting activities requiring knowledge of the theory and practice of recording, classifying, examining and analyzing the data and records of financial transactions. This individual reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for performing key accounting and financial reporting activities to support ensuring the completeness and accuracy of accounting transactions including, but not limited to, fixed assets, cash, inventory and accounts receivable. The Senior Accountant is based in Carlsbad, California, but will have the opportunity to work with others globally at various levels and serve as a subject matter expert for the Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud Service (FCCS) system including reviews of regionally reported financials and global consolidation.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities

Responsible for select balance sheet account reconciliations and financial reporting packages for TaylorMade U.S. operations
Prepare journal entries and account analysis for various general ledger accounts including cash, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory, other assets & prepaids, accruals and payroll
Review and post journal entries booked by other finance team members
Problem-solve accounting and systems related areas and provide guidance on accounting-related topics
Review agreements and ensure accounting is in accordance with U.S. GAAP (including ASC 842 - Leases, ASC 606 - Revenue Recognition)
Provide oversight of Fixed Asset process to ensure accurate accounting in line with U.S. GAAP by providing the business with proper accounting treatment of fixed asset projects. Responsible for all elements of the fixed asset process including reviewing Capital Expenditure Requests, Fixed Asset creation/disposition, roll forwards and reconciliations.
Utilize Visual Lease software to add, modify or cancel leases to ensure proper recognition under ASC 842
Load and validate TaylorMade U.S. results using Oracle FCCS to ensure proper results are reflected in the Consolidated financials
Oversee the Global Chart of Accounts process including creation of new accounts, business units, cost centers, product lines and brands for the TaylorMade U.S. entity
Research, document, and present analysis of key trial balance fluctuations for TaylorMade U.S. entity for Finance Leadership
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows), reports and required disclosures
Lead presentations with senior finance leadership to present key financial results and KPI's
Collaborate with IT and business teams on Oracle system setups to ensure proper accounting for new and existing business initiatives and transactions. Activities may include project management and testing of system changes
Review of contracts and agreements to identify and summarize accounting implications and ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies
Ensure internal control processes are appropriately followed
Identify and implement process and procedural improvements
Responsible for closing numerous Oracle EBS modules monthly, including Accounts Receivable and Fixed Assets
Provide ad hoc Oracle FCCS reporting of global and regional trial balances and financial information, as requested by Finance Leadership and Management
Support financial statement audit requirements by collaborating with external auditors to fulfill PBC requests, including collecting schedules and deliverables from other departments, as required
Perform other related responsibilities as required

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

Highly proficient understanding of U.S. GAAP
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Advanced skills in Excel and strong skills in Business Objects (or other reporting software)
Strong analytical skills required and the ability to detect and avoid errors
Must be resourceful and apply critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills, managing multiple tasks and juggling priorities
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team, join data from various sources and develop creative and innovative solutions within an entrepreneurial environment
Detail oriented with good organizational skills

Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
5+ years of recent related accounting experience
Proficient understanding of U.S. GAAP including application of new accounting standards
Experience with technical accounting topics including leases, intercompany eliminations, consolidations, new accounting standard implementations, foreign currency hedging a plus
Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Oracle and FCCS / Hyperion / SmartView experience a plus
CPA preferred

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

Office environment, heavy computer use
Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials
Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach
Must be able to work extended hours as needed

TaylorMade is a performance driven organization and our total rewards approach to compensation is designed to support this. We consider many factors in determining base compensation, including position scope, job related knowledge, education, skills, experience, and work location. The expected annual base pay range for this position is $90,000 -$100,000. Additional benefits, such as health & wellness, performance bonuses, product discounts, holidays, paid time off, etc. may also be offered in accordance with our plans.
