SERVICE PLANNING SUPERVISOR 1

Primary Function:


This position is accountable for providing the required leadership, technical expertise, and communication skills required to supervisor the supply chain planning logistics and the Scale House Attendant (direct report).

The planning logistics include supporting the Secondary Fiber Buyer (Corporate) in the procurement of raw materials (wastepaper), inventory management (wastepaper and finished rolls), receiving of wastepaper / shipment of finished rolls, and planning based on the inventory and runnability of production.

The supervisor works closely with the Coordinator, Warehouse Supervisor,

Manager, and Production Planners (Corporate) to produce an operating schedule that both maximizes machine time and fulfills customer / shipping needs.

This execution must happen in a safe, efficient, and cost
- effective manner while maintaining a high level of quality and customer satisfaction. The role will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager.


Basic Job Requirements:


  • Responsible for the selection, training, and development of the supply chain personnel (hourly) to ensure
department performance / safety objectives / communications are maintained at a high level of excellence.

  • Accountable for training and development of all direct reports in the fundamentals of continuous improvement (CI)
and best practices. This includes, but is not limited to, the identification of appropriate training programs,

resources, and references as necessary.

  • The training will also identify and implement uses of new / improved technologies and devices with the intent of supporting improved operational efficiencies.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and compliance of all USG model programs, safety rules, CI initiatives, VWI's and standard operating procedures for Supply Chain.
  • Responsible for the organization, management, and safe performing practices for all product planning under the
accountability of the Supply Chain Manager.

  • Assist the Supply Chain Manager and Shared Services Supervisor (Finance) in inventory counts and reconciliation process

Example:
investigating shipping issues and/or issuing shipping correction notices when needed to ensure inventory accuracy.

  • Maintains appropriate communication with outside vendors and contractors, always putting plant's interests at the forefront.

  • Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail. Maintain well organized and accurate records relating to wastepaper procurement and production supplies for finished products.
  • Enforce all safety and housekeeping objectives to comply with the Model Program.
  • Support the unloading, receiving, and warehousing of all raw materials, warehouse goods, and transfers.
  • Must be able to enter, update and investigate safety incidents in CORE in a timely manner.

Job Procedures and Requirements:


Wastepaper Procurement

  • Manage the wastepaper procurement (purchase order) planning process and actively manage the paper inventory. Cost of wastepaper tracked monthly.
  • Communicate with the Secondary Fiber Buyer (Corporate) along with the wastepaper brokers / suppliers to ensure a steady and reliable source of raw material is available.
  • Investigate and respond to Supplier inquiries: weight discrepancies, damage claims, quality issues (fiber rejections), PO price mismatches, etc.
  • Investigate and respond to Plant inquiries: early / late loads, fiber inventory / production run time based on available fiber, etc.
  • Assist in the cycle counts and physical inventories and the reconciliation of any discrepancies for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Perform quality inspections of fiber (OCC, DLK, Flyleaf, and Signature) as required.

Finished Roll Packaging Materials Procurement

  • Establish and maintain packaging material inventory levels and reorder policies.
  • Monitor the packaging materials inventories on a frequent basis and execute suggested purchase requisitions to maintain proper inventory levels plus safety stock.
  • Manage and execute all activities associated with purchasing packaging materials create purchase orders, maintain pricing and followup with vendors to ensure a steady supply at a reasonable price. Engage Strategic Sourcing (Corporate) as needed.
  • Execute packaging material cycle counts and physical inventories in a timely and accurate manner.

Finished Roll Shipments

  • Utilize the Oracle, CMS (Carrier Management System), and MDIS to manage the order activities such as
determining rail orders, non-standard item orders and any other order needing special attention.
