- Plan develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
- Evaluate the Accounting Department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases, and financial software.
- Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends in order to assist the CEO and other senior leaders in performing their responsibilities.
- Provide direct leadership in the areas of accounting, financial analysis, and internal controls.
- Provide regular maintenance and backup of all accounting systems and supervise company financial staff.
- Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, compliance, and financial procedures.
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data to the leadership team.
- Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly, and annual financial statements.
- Coordinate the preparation and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax forms.
- Accountable for the month-end close process, reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies.
- Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts, and overhead cost allocation.
- Maintain outstanding banking and insurance relationships and support strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.
- Act as the primary contact for external risk insurance providers.
- Oversee the information technology vendor regarding contract and services to the organization.

Position Summary
The Controller/CFO position at Bender Transportation will partner with the President and CEO and organizational leaders in the direction of the overall financial management of the company. A transportation professional, the Controller/CFO will be comfortable and focused on supporting and improving our trucking operation regarding financial planning, strategy, budgeting, reporting and financial control systems. The Controller/CFO will be a strategic partner to the organization using an analytical approach in formulating winning strategies.
