Yu Jeong Lee

Hi My name is Yu Jeong Lee!  I go by Yu I am a perfusion student at SUNY Upstate.

From August 2016 to April 2019, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Premedical Health Science at MCPHS University in Boston, MA.

From August 2019 to April 2021, I completed a Master of Science in Public Health at MCPHS University in Boston, MA.

Since August 2024, I have been pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Perfusion at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY.

Something that I want to improve on is gaining  clinical experience in the operating room. My professor recommended to take a pause and get more experience as a perfusion assistant and come back to the program as a second year. I am interested in this position because it gives me the opportunity to work closely with perfusionists in a real OR setting. Also, in general, I am good at speaking English however in the dynamic operating room its been difficult so I would like to improve my communication skills as well before I go on rotations. I am available to work for at least one year and I can immediately start the work as soon as possible.

Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Chestnut Hill, MA
Clinical Trainee, Pain Program – Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine

During my time at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, I worked closely with physicians, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals in a perioperative clinical setting. I reviewed medical records and pre-screened patients for clinical research studies using EPIC software. I also obtained informed consent while ensuring full compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintained strict confidentiality with patient information. Additionally, I handled and processed biological samples in both clinical and laboratory environments, managed research timelines, and contributed to the Partners Biobank research program by maintaining data accuracy and quality control.

Echocardiography Assistant
Full time | 370 hours total

As an Echocardiography Assistant, I supported cardiac imaging procedures by preparing patients, recording vital signs, and setting up ECG leads. I observed and assisted in over 300 echocardiograms, which strengthened my understanding of cardiac anatomy, valve function, wall motion, and hemodynamics. I ensured that equipment and patient areas were properly sanitized between exams and coordinated workflow efficiently with nurses and technicians. Additionally, I assisted with communication between English- and Korean-speaking patients to support effective and compassionate patient care.

I am completing High Fidelity Simulation training and didactic classes at SUNY Upstate Medical University (August 2024 – October 2025). During this program, I have developed fundamental skills in cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and gained experience operating both roller and centrifugal pumps. I have practiced in over 70 simulated cases, including CABG, AVR, MVR, and DHCA/SCP procedures, and have observed more than 20 clinical cases such as CABG, AVR, MVR, endarterectomy, Impella, TAVR, pericardial window, and ECMO. In addition, I have received training in cell salvage techniques, crisis management, and ECMO set up and priming.
