Tony Nguyen

Aspiring aerospace engineer with a passion for innovation, hands-on problem-solving, and pushing the boundaries of space technology. Currently pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Aerospace at Rice University, I have gained experience in CAD modeling, structural analysis, and rapid prototyping through my work at Bronco Space and Rice Eclipse.

My background includes designing CubeSat components, developing PCB systems, and contributing to flight control designs for rocketry. I thrive in fast-paced environments where I can apply my skills in aerospace structures, mechanisms, and system integration. Whether it’s working on CubeSats, rovers, or flight systems, I am dedicated to refining my engineering expertise and contributing to the future of space exploration.

My professional experience reflects a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, CAD design, and project management, with a focus on aerospace and engineering leadership. As a Volunteer Researcher at Bronco Space, Cal Poly Pomona, I transitioned the organization to Onshape, redesigned critical CubeSat components, and developed and tested PCBs for a payload launched on a SpaceX rocket. I also contributed to Mars rover prototyping, maintained lab equipment, and designed 3D-printed solutions for various projects. At Gabrielino High School, I assisted in 3D design tasks and co-led the redesign of a student tracking system, improving administrative efficiency. I co-developed E-Slips, an electronic system for school management, and contributed to an AI model for age recognition with 70% precision. In leadership roles, I served as Co-Vice President of Science Olympiad, organizing team activities, and as an Assistant Float Director for the Rose Bowl, where I coordinated tasks and managed volunteers. These experiences highlight my technical expertise in CAD, PCB development, and programming, as well as my leadership and project manager. 
 

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Rice University in Houston, Texas, with an expected graduation in May 2028. My studies include concentrations in Aerospace Engineering and a Certificate in Engineering Leadership, along with a minor in Engineering Design. I have taken relevant coursework such as Mechanics/Statics, Thermodynamics, Differential Equations, and Multivariable Calculus, which have provided me with a strong technical foundation. Additionally, my education is complemented by hands-on experience in CAD design, 3D printing, and programming, preparing me for a career in engineering and innovation.
