About Timothy Verrill:

I am a results‑driven technology manager that brings a rare blend of technical depth, strategic leadership, and a people-first mindset. I’ve led enterprise-wide technology initiatives across nonprofit, corporate, and MSP environments—driving transformation from the server room to the boardroom. Proven record of using critical thinking to solve complex operational challenges while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

As a hands-on leader, I build high-performing teams through mentorship, clear communication, and a shared commitment to excellence. I’m passionate about empowering others and delivering secure, scalable solutions that align with organizational goals. My judgment and troubleshooting skills enable me to guide IT teams with clarity and confidence.

Key strengths and focus areas:

  • Leadership & Mentoring: Hiring, coaching, and developing IT talent while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning. Participate in leadership teams.
  • Security & Compliance: Implementing and auditing systems aligned with HIPAA, SOC2, PCIDSS and cybersecurity best practices, with a proactive approach to risk mitigation; successfully managing third-party security assessments and client-facing audits to ensure organizational readiness for handling sensitive business data.
  • AI & Automation: Served on the AI Taskforce to develop organizational AI solutions, policy, and training; executed the rollout of Microsoft Copilot; built a Teams/SharePoint training platform; and created admin‑level training progress reports. Explore/develop use of AI to modernize infrastructure operations and workflows.
  • Infrastructure Strategy: Managing environments from on-prem to Microsoft Entra Cloud tenant environments, overseeing vendors and procurement, upgrades, and long-term planning across hardware, software, and services.
  • Analysis: Delivered $115,000 in annual cloud cost savings by independently analyzing and remediating abandoned storage; rapidly upskilled in unfamiliar data-platform tooling, identified orphaned datasets, and safely removed unused data after prior attempts by analytics teams and external vendors were unsuccessful – calling their work complete. Delivered long‑term governance recommendations.

At my core, I’m a solutions‑driven problem solver with strong troubleshooting, judgment, and communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with individuals at every level of an organization.

Beyond the technical realm, I’ve contributed to agency leadership teams, shaped policy and documentation, and built multi-year budget plans. I also give back through volunteer work with Catholic Charities Maine (SEARCH Program) and Rotary—because making a difference matters, both professionally and personally.

Experience

Both in corporate and non-profit environments with, I've collaborated with management on initiatives needing to be accomplished. Plans are put together that myself and my team then tackle and see through. Most recently at a start-up, I created an IT department from scratch - building up an Azure / 365 Entra environment, set up vendor relationships, established a helpdesk, hired staff, and worked on multiple compliance projects - establishing needed policies and procedures along the way.

I believe in making a difference personally and professionally, mentor and empower staff to excel.

Education

As part of an AI Taskforce to determine how best to roll-out AI, I've been diving into this key topic.

At this moment in time, we are at a crossroads with AI as businesses and staff work diligently to take advantage of this new tool and everything it can accomplish. But an understanding and training is required to determine when and how it can be used; how to structure workflows; the importance of privacy and confidentiality; the differences between versions; ethics; and how (and when) memory functions should be reset to maintain data integrity. So much is constantly changing both on the client side and on the Admin side as managers seek usage reports to determine training needs. There is a lot to be done and kept up with.

Roll-out to all employees included a Teams/SharePoint education platform I designed and set-up.
