Thomas White

I am a recent PhD graduate with 8 years of cleanroom & microfabrication experience. My graduate work also included device design and testing, as well as skill with COMSOL Multiphysics for guiding device designs. I seek a challenging work environment where I can contribute meaningfully to projects which make a difference in the lives of many people on a daily basis. The development of cutting edge electronics that people depend on is a means to achieve that aim. 

My professional experience comes from my PhD work. This allowed me to gain experience in a cleanroom setting where I gained experience with LPCVD (polysilicon, SiO2, nitride), CVD( aluminum films and parylene c), DRIE, wet chemical etching, metrology, chemical safety, and research presentation skills. My projects focused on the development of both silicon- and parylene- based neural probes for in vivo neuroscience applications. This work also cultivated project management, collaboration skills, basic data analysis, and troubleshooting skills.

My most relevant education would be from my graduate work and in my undergraduate work. Both involved research which involved cleanroom work. My undergraduate degree was in mechanical engineering. My research work in undergraduate included the testing of triaxial accelerometers fabricated from silicon wafers, metal deposition, soft lithography, and cell assays. My graduate research focused on the design, fabrication, and testing of implantable neural probes as described above. This included classes related to polymers, material science, microfluidic devices, and cleanroom fabrication.
