About Somnath Mondal:
Biochemistry professional interested in protein (i.e. globular, intrinsically disordered, and membrane proteins) and ligand (DNA, RNA, inhibitors, and nanomaterials) interactions study. I utilize advanced biophysical techniques i.e. NMR, ITC, AUC, Fluorescence, etc., to optimize, collect, visualize, and analyze biochemical data. I enjoy gleaning insights from experiments to unveil the mechanism in proteins causing human health diseases.
As a skilled Biochemist, I probe into the intricacies of protein-RNA interactions at Pennsylvania State University. The picornaviral protein and RNA interaction results in liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS), an intermediate state explaining the viral replication and host-cell hijacking mechanisms.
In my current work, I utilized genomic RNA elements to understand the interaction mechanism with poliovirus 3CD proteins and the formation of LLPS utilizing various advanced biophysical techniques. My research finding holds the common mechanism for all other single-stranded RNA viruses i.e. SARS-CoV-2.
I am driven to contribute to a company that values meticulous research and a culture that fosters diverse thought and rigorous scientific inquiry. Outside of my office, I enjoy swimming, traveling, cats, and cooking. Let's connect here or contact me at somomsom in gmail.com
