About Sherry Lewis:
I’m a youth development professional dedicated to creating safe, supportive, and empowering spaces for young people. My experience spans K–12 classrooms, special education, and behavioral support, where I’ve learned how to connect with youth from all backgrounds — especially those who need patience, advocacy, and someone in their corner.
I’m currently completing my bachelor’s degree in special education at Arizona State University and preparing to enter a dual bachelor’s + MEd program in Educational Leadership. My long‑term focus is on youth justice, community impact, and social equity. I’m passionate about restorative practices, trauma‑informed support, and helping young people navigate systems that often feel overwhelming.
At my core, I believe every young person deserves dignity, opportunity, and someone who sees their potential. I’m committed to being that person — and to building a career centered on justice, compassion, and community transformation.
Experience
I have several years of experience supporting K–12 students across diverse classroom settings, including special education, behavioral support, and general education. My work as a substitute teacher, paraprofessional, and instructional assistant has given me strong skills in youth engagement, trauma‑informed communication, de‑escalation, and relationship‑building with students from all backgrounds. I’ve supported learners with academic, emotional, and behavioral needs, collaborated with educators and families, and helped create safe, inclusive environments where young people can succeed. As I continue my education in Special Education and prepare to enter a dual bachelor’s + MEd program in Educational Leadership, I’m committed to advancing youth advocacy, social impact, and community‑centered leadership.
Education
Currently completing a bachelor’s degree in Special Education at Arizona State University, where I focus on supporting diverse learners, behavioral needs, and inclusive practices. Beginning a dual bachelor’s + MEd program in Educational Leadership, with an emphasis on community leadership and social impact. My academic path reflects a commitment to youth advocacy, equity, and developing the skills needed to lead programs that support and empower young people.
