About Shanna Potter:
I am a graduate student in School Counseling at Lindenwood University with a background in child welfare and mental health services. I am passionate about supporting students through early intervention, social-emotional skill development, and trauma-informed practices. I believe strong relationships and proactive supports can make a lasting difference in a child’s life.
Experience
My professional experience includes working in child welfare, care coordination, and school-based mental health services. As a Family-Centered Services Worker with the Missouri Children’s Division, I conducted safety assessments, developed case plans, and collaborated with families and community agencies to ensure child well-being and permanency. In my role as a care coordinator, I partnered with schools, mental health providers, and families to develop individualized service plans, monitor progress, and connect clients with community resources. Through these experiences, I have developed strong skills in crisis intervention, documentation, collaboration, and trauma-informed practice. My work has consistently focused on supporting children and families, advocating for their needs, and promoting stability, resilience, and positive outcomes.
Education
I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in School Counseling at Lindenwood University and am on track to graduate in Fall 2026. My program emphasizes the ASCA National Model, data-driven school counseling practices, and social-emotional learning interventions. Through coursework and field experiences, I have developed skills in individual counseling, small group facilitation, crisis response, and comprehensive school counseling program development. I am also working toward licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), further strengthening my commitment to ethical and evidence-based practice.
