About Sandi Nahriri:
Global health and integration of culture into prevention of disease, health maintenance, and disease treatment is my passion. Health is optimized when western medicine standards of care are married with cultural tradition for optimization of holistic care. I have worked in metropolitan settings, tribal facilities, and in austere villages in rural/“bush” Alaska. I have spoken internationally (Beijing) regarding integration of indigenous foods to modern diets in efforts to potential genetic gastric biomes. Total 36 years in practice; 7 as DNP, 29 as BSN. Current APRN with Family Practice certification.
Experience
Thirty- six years of practice; seven as DNP, APRN. Family Practice certification with AANP. Worked in Nome, Alaska, and surrounding villages (accessible only by prop plane) as my first DNP role. Additional roles included providing primary care to two vastly different Native American tribes, incorporating cultural beliefs/ practices into standard-of-care Western medicine. I have focused much effort and project design regarding chronic non-communicable disease burden on underserved population, and native/ genetic gastric biomes being entropic within the current world food/ nutrition availability.
