A US division of an Australian-based publicly traded X-ray company developing new technologies for the global medical, security, and military markets with 15 US and 100 global staff.

 

Business and Operations Manager, Officer / North American Sales Specialist

Collaborated with CEO / Chief Scientist to execute business and sales strategies, manage operations, HR, inventory, import/export, and vendor relations. Performed finance and accounting functions (AR / AP, month-end close, forecasting, tax prep, and banking). Worked with global sales team to develop new business opportunities, manage trade shows and events involving politicians and military leaders. Managed sales relationships and logistics to distributor and end user customers including hospitals, clinics, and medical and military centers.

  • Opened and established US facilities and presence: recruited, hired, and onboarded full US team; managed lease negotiations and design / construction of US facility on time and on budget.
  • Implemented ERP system to ensure DCAA approved accounting system compliance for government contracting, integrate data with Australian home office, and meet needs of an Australian ASX-listed company.
  • Developed HR policies and handbook, selected and deployed software systems for expense reporting, HR, and payroll in multiple states.
  • Created procedures to distribute, sell, service and ensure compliance of company’s first commercialized product using new carbon nanotube X-ray technology.
  • Established new activities with professional sports teams, producing over $250K in revenue in 8 weeks and creating marketing connections with Major League Baseball and National Hockey League franchises.
  • Oversaw multiple global trade show projects with annual budgets exceeding $250K.

 

PETFOODNZ USA, Seattle, WA                                                                                    July 2018 – January 2020

A division of a New Zealand-based canned pet food manufacturer producing private label and self-branded products for the North American specialty pet market.

 

Chief Operations Officer

Oversaw $1M test market project and established a new US Corporation. Directed all recruiting and hiring initiatives. Managed 10 staff and agencies in the US, New Zealand, Canada, the Philippines, and India including sales support, marketing, and administration. Created, applied, and managed all accounting procedures including full P&L responsibility, budgeting, forecasting, bookkeeping, purchasing, payroll, and supply chain management. Oversaw all sales, finance, marketing, branding, and regulatory compliance. Initiated partnerships with retailers, consumers, associations, and trade organizations, created trial programs, and headed social media engagement. 

  • Generated $250K in new revenue in first four months by developing and executing a GTM strategy resulting in placement of new pet food brand in two premier distributors, over 90 retail storefront locations, and an e-commerce market presence including Amazon Seller Central.
  • Accelerated import approval for food products in the US by ensuring product labeling compliance, completing registrations, and forming relationships with numerous agencies such as USDA, FDA, Fish and Wildlife, AAFCO, Department of Agriculture, US Customs, and state entities.
  • Generated $100K above projections for stakeholders by constructing a plan that encompassed all aspects of dissolution of a project to ensure a smooth transition.

 

ADDICTION FOODS, Kent, WA                                                                                    July 2016 – July 2018

Produces dry food and treats for global private label customers as well as self-branded lines with headquarters in Singapore and a production facility in New Zealand.

 

Vice President, North America

Led sales strategy process to support growth, profitability, and key initiatives to better align North American operations, and processes with five onsite and 10 remote direct reports. Acted as hands-on sales, operations, and supply chain manager. Collaborated with international team on branding multiple US labels including social media messaging and campaigns, brand image, packaging, and digital and print support and training materials. Served as Business Development Manager for private label division encompassing formulation, packaging, pricing, compliance, transportation, and product launch.

  • Led redesign of international consumer, and B2B website for multiple brands and private label division, increasing ecommerce sales by over 100%, providing online training materials for retailers, and developing a secure portal to accommodate the growing number of private label inquiries.
  • Obtained and developed private label customers with projected revenues of $1M+ annually.
  • Saved $50K+ annually by managing relocation of US headquarters / warehouse operations to co-op environment.
  • Generated 30% growth and attained $1M+ in sales by realigning sales strategy, auditing and refreshing listings, and executing new marketing plans with Amazon Vendor Central, Amazon Seller Central, Chewy, and Jet.
  • Reduced inventory loss by over 40%, increased turns by 50%, and decreased freight costs by over $200K annually on an inventory of 200 items, nearing $1M in value. 
  • Managed two FDA product recalls involving 500 customers and $250K in inventory: ensured logistical cooperation and compensation for B2B customers / brand consumers in compliance with FDA, USDA, and state agencies.
