Samuel Nichols
Engineering / Architecture
About Samuel Nichols:
I have always had an interest in working in the medical field. Once I discovered the field of biomedical engineering, I knew that it was what I wanted to do for my career.
During my time enrolled at the University of North Texas I’ve learned many skills that go
beyond just academics. Our program is designed to help us build applicable skill sets that are extremely
versatile for working in industry. Throughout the many projects I have worked on, both
individually and in groups, I have become extremely comfortable working with others as a team and managing various projects. My senior design project at UNT involved my three group members and I to develop a 3D microfluidic flow simulation in COMSOL that can be used for drug testing in the field of cancer research. Throughout my academic career at UNT I’ve learned the MATLAB coding language and its uses for data processing, the basics of electrical circuit composition, the biological processes of each
system within the human body, as well as more niche skills such as cell culture with human cell
lines.
The scope of my career goals is very vast. I would love to work in research regarding
cardiovascular or neurological processes, or work on developing new and innovative medical
equipment that can help improve the quality of life of patients.
I can’t wait to connect with other leading professionals in order to achieve my goals and help the
medical industry continue to innovate and save lives.
