I recently graduated from the Biomedical Engineering master's program at the University of Colorado Boulder. I am a motivated bioinformatics scientist with a strong interdisciplinary background in computational biology, proteomics, and biological engineering. Experienced in next-generation sequencing (NGS) analysis, omics data integration, and the development of bioinformatics pipelines. Proficient in Python, Bash, and Linux environments, with a strong foundation in scientific computing. Sahana Balaji is a biomedical engineering professional with interdisciplinary experience spanning chemical engineering, bioinformatics, and computational biology. At TDA Research, she supported DOD-funded projects, including a low-powered dialysate generator for military applications and soft-sensor development for pediatric airway training and underwater robotics, applying skills in Arduino, SolidWorks, and sensor testing. As a Graduate Research Assistant at CU Boulder and Anschutz Medical Campus, she conducted proteomic and pathway analyses to uncover mitochondrial protein modifications linked to Alzheimer’s risk in postmenopausal women, presenting her findings at a national conference. Her bioinformatics internship at Velocity Sciences involved mass spectrometry and NGS data analysis for early Parkinson’s detection and development of Streamlit-based tools. During her undergraduate research, she conducted molecular dynamics simulations on neuroHIV and Alzheimer’s targets and led an independent computational project on endometriosis.
