Ron Ferraro

I have been creating software applications for over 20 years with a specialty in Front-End Development and User Experience Design.  I am proficient in Svelte, Vue.js and React libraries and typically work with GraphQL and/or REST APIs to deliver complex interfaces with a lot of interactivity, often over websockets.  I don't just make responsive websites; I create entire experiences with detailed animation, draggables/droppables and even 3D webGL elements.  I am currently seeking a means to pursue my dream of living & working in Italy, though that may be some time away yet.  I am only up to about 622 words in Italian so far, so I have a lot of language left to learn.  I am a lifelong comic book collector and was even featured briefly in the Stan Lee documentary “With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story.”  It's a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo recorded after my first meeting with Stan.

Spent a decade or more at Kukui, developing web applications in the early days of HTML websites, pre-CSS era.  CSS was such a gift, I will never understand why frameworks keep going back and making all the same mistakes we made back in those days of writing all your styles in the mark-up.  Later, I worked for Apartments24-7, updating thousands of table-based websites to 4k responsive designs.  I developed a custom CSS framework for rapid customization a year before Bootstrap 2.0 was even released.  I established a rapid production cycle using Asana which many years later allowed the company to continue operating remotely even during the pandemic.  Then I went to Raster, a small boutique firm which handled high-profile, complex projects.  There, I contributed significantly to the Healthy Brains Initiative for the Lou Ruvo Brain Center, I coded back-end Node.js systems for optimizing fantasy football picks for Blitzpick, and built a React-based multimedia system aimed at assisting the terminally ill in preparing content for their family after their passing.  From there, I went to Switch, where I overhauled their corporate website into a WYSIWYG system for content editors to manage, I redesigned their internal, Perl-based “Living Data Center” and led the design and development teams on their Data Center Infrastructure Management software.  I also designed and worked extensively on a Single-Pane-Of-Glass alert response system, rescued a failing Customer Portal program, oversaw the development of security id photo software, built a weekly updates corporate reporting service and many other projects.

I was an English major in college, having been awarded an Honors scholarship.  I served as “Historian” in the MuMu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, and even ran for International office in the society, though I did not win that election.
