Rodolfo Baez

Hello, I'm Rodolfo Baez, a junior at SUNY New Paltz and a Dominican immigrant who, alongside my family, began our journey in the United States in 2009. I bring a diverse skill set to the table, encompassing my proficiency in Spanish, talents in Photoshop and photography, and coding abilities with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. My passion lies in the world of software development and data science, particularly in machine learning and AI, which fuels my desire to make a difference in my community by sharing the wonders of technology with those who may not have had the opportunity to explore this field. With my background in event organization and networking, I'm determined to bridge the gap and empower individuals in my community to harness the potential of these transformative technologies.

Rodolfo Baez is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a Minor in Biology at the State University of New York at New Paltz, expected to graduate in May 2025. He has gained a solid foundation in computer science, including courses in Data Structures and Algorithms, Assembly Language, and Computer Architecture. Rodolfo's professional journey includes a Data Science Fellowship at America On Tech, where he honed his Python skills for data manipulation and analysis, as well as experience in SQL for effective data management. He served as a Tech-360 Instructor, teaching HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to beginners, and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant, using R for data visualization and analysis. His prior role as an Amazon Apprentice Software Developer showcased his web development skills, and he has contributed to various projects, such as creating a Machine Code Compiler Website and exploring aquatic ecosystems through R programming. Rodolfo's technical expertise spans multiple programming languages and developer tools, and he has demonstrated leadership as the Vice President of SHPE at SUNY New Paltz while earning academic honors, including membership in the Chi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society and recognition as an Outstanding Scholar.

During my Data Science Fellowship at America On Tech in New York, which I began in October 2023, I acquired valuable skills in Python, focusing on the use of libraries like NumPy and Pandas for efficient data manipulation and analysis. I also developed proficiency in data visualization using tools such as Matplotlib and Seaborn, with an emphasis on presenting data effectively. Additionally, I learned essential SQL skills to manage data proficiently and extract valuable insights from relational databases. As part of this program, I had the opportunity to collaborate within a team to create a data science and machine learning project, allowing me to apply these skills in a practical setting.
