Rebecca Shuster

Physician Assistant with diverse medical background practicing in family medicine, and previously rheumatology and obstetrics and gynecology. Possesses comprehensive set of skills including communicating complex information in clear and concise manner to students and patients alike.  

In my current role, I see patients in the outpatient setting daily, and maintain my own patient schedule.  I complete annual exams, preoperative exams, hospital follow-ups and minor procedures.  Additionally, I am a member on the high-risk hospital discharge committee that develops protocols that reduce hospital readmissions for patients.  Serving on this committee has further developed my skills in fostering collaboration and teamwork.  I have also had the privilege over the last seven years to precept students on clinical rotations from various institutions in the area.  In precepting students, not only have I helped to grow the profession, but also have established many close relationships with providers in the surrounding medical community.  Additionally, precepting has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of pathophysiology of diseases, and the mechanism of actions of diverse pharmaceutical treatments.  I have perfected the task of communicating complex information in a clear and concise manner so that my students, as well as my patients, can understand.
