Rebecca Justiniano

A native of Long Island, NY, Rebecca Justiniano graduated from Adelphi University with a Bachelor of arts in English and Creative Writing summa cum laude, honors college. She is the recipient of a Donald Everett Axinn Award for Creative Writing in both the short fiction and nonfiction essay categories. She has also contributed to The Merrimack Review. With a particular interest in children’s literature, which began with her childhood favorite authors J.J. R. Tolkien, Kate Apelt, and Neil Gaiman, she obtained a marketing internship with the independent publisher, Hannacroix Creek Books Inc., whose publications include a wide range YA and children’s illustrated books.  

In the spring semester of my junior year, I was a remote intern at Hannacroix Creek Books, Inc. Under the direction of head editor, Dr. Jan Yager, I wrote summaries for book jackets and online book listings, created marketing pitches for novels under consideration for publication, and prepared several manuscripts for printing.

I was also a bookkeeping assistant to a medium sized law firm called Abrams Fensterman LLC during which I was able to improve project timelines. I also became fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and legal software such as Time Matters. 

A recent student of the Columbia Publishing Course, that took place in Manhattan, NY (Summer 2021): a five-week intensive course on all aspects of book, magazine, and digital media publishing.
A graduate of Adelphi University, Garden City, NY (Class of 2021) with a Bachelor of arts in English and Creative Writing summa cum laude.
