Peyton Harrison

Hello, my name is Peyton Harrison. In May of 2020, I graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Civil Engineering. I immediately moved to the Memphis, TN area to pursue a job at Yates Construction as an assistant project manager. There I performed document control. quality checks, and storage reorganization. 
   After Yates, I began working as a property restoration estimator at Belfor. There, I would evaluate the damage, decide what needed to be replaced or repaired, and then create a budget based of my initial evaluation. Then I would manage a team to go back through and build back the building to its original state. I also learned to negotiate with insurance, and keep relationships with clients. 
   Finally, I realized may passions were not with the construction industry, but they were more aligned with the tech field. I pursued a career in Software Engineering at Flatiron School in order to learn how to code.

I graduated with a civil engineering degree in 2020 and worked in the construction industry for just under two years. I then decided to switch career paths and focus on learning to code through Flatiron School. 

Flatiron School taught me how to code through JavaScript, React, SQL, and Ruby on Rails. Since then, I have focused on learning new languages and new ways to code.
