About Paul Basilevich:
Way before the very advent of Git, Jenkins, DevOps and CI/CD concepts, while with Invensys Systems Canada, on my own initiative, I devised, implemented, and productized, my first end-to-end fully automated pipeline for building and deploying the enterprise software product known under the name of Avantis.PRO.
That process developed around Rational/IBM ClearCase/ClearQuest suite was triggered by the project manager's decision over the functional content designated to make the upcoming iteration of the product, the decision committed by way of marking down the pertaining tasks on a database entry form in sheer terms of the business logic.
Upon commit of such a form, all the necessary target source code construction (i.e., mass-merging heavily relying on cherry-picking nicely handled by ClearCase), the build optimized with auto-detection of hierarchically interdependent components buildable in parallel, deployment (referred to as "installation" at the time) to the target environment, triggering the automated testing, and, finally, communication of the test results - all of those pipeline stages would run unattended.
That is where my infatuation with what nowadays is dubbed "DevOps" has been running from for already 15 years since.
