About Patrina Randolph:
I believe theatre is more than performance — it's a transformative tool for self-expression, empathy, and personal growth. As a theatre educator, I strive to create a safe, inclusive space where all students feel seen, heard, and empowered to take creative risks.
Every student has a story worth telling. My teaching approach is rooted in collaboration, cultural relevance, and student voice. I encourage students to draw from their own experiences to craft performances that reflect their realities while expanding their understanding of others. Through ensemble-building, improvisation, and scriptwriting, students learn that theatre thrives on trust, vulnerability, and shared creativity.
My experience teaching in Title I schools with bilingual, special needs, and general education students has equipped me to differentiate instruction using movement, visuals, and scaffolding to support diverse learners. Theatre becomes a powerful alternative for students who struggle with traditional learning, offering them confidence and connection.
Relationship-building and strong classroom management are key to my success. I foster a structured yet flexible environment where creativity flourishes and expectations remain high. This has led to increased student engagement and multiple UIL Theatre Competition wins.
As a professional playwright and producer, I integrate real-world theatre practices to teach students not just how to perform — but how to create. I believe in the healing power of theatre and often center culturally relevant stories that promote growth and social awareness.
Ultimately, my goal is to prepare students not just for the stage, but for life — equipping them with creativity, resilience, and the confidence to use their voice to make a difference.
Experience
As an educator, playwright, and creative leader, I have always viewed student success as more than academic achievement - it is the process of helping students discover who they are, unlock their potential, and develop the skills, confidence, and resilience to thrive both in and beyond the classroom. My approach to student success is rooted in empowerment, equity, and authentic connection.
I believe that student success begins with creating inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments where students feel seen, supported, and inspired. Throughout my career in Title I public schools and community-based arts programs, I have worked with students from diverse backgrounds - including bilingual learners, students with special needs, and those navigating systemic barriers to opportunity. I have witnessed firsthand how the right environment can transform a student's sense of self and open doors to possibility.
My work in theatre education centers around building trust, collaboration, and student voice. These elements are essential not just to theatre but to academic and personal growth. When students feel safe to express themselves and are given the tools to do so creatively, they take ownership of their learning. They learn to advocate for themselves, to lead, and to support one another. This kind of learning cultivates success that extends far beyond a single performance or course.
I'm looking to be a part of academic system that upholds student achievement, access, and innovation as top priorities. I believe in creating unique opportunities to support student success holistically - combining academic rigor with creative exploration, mentorship, and personal development. My interdisciplinary background positions me to contribute meaningfully to all three.
My own journey as a nontraditional learner and first-generation college graduate has shaped my passion for helping students overcome obstacles and define success on their own terms. I understand the power of encouragement, culturally relevant curriculum, and high expectations - and I bring those values into every classroom, coaching session, and conversation with students.
Ultimately, student success is about transformation. Whether I'm guiding a student through script development, helping them prepare for a performance, or mentoring them through a personal challenge, my goal is the same: to help them believe in their worth, sharpen their skills, and step boldly into their future.
