Hello, my name is Pamela Stevens and I have been married for 28 years. Currently, I work in the Library in my hometown of Chatham, Louisiana. I am an active member of my church where I serve as a Deaconess, Choir Member, Adult Sunday School Teacher and Prayer Warrior.

Circular / Reference Specialist – Chatham, LA - September 2023 to Present

  • Arranges and shelves library materials; shift books as needed; checks shelves to see that all books are correctly shelved. 

 

  • Checks materials in and out; successfully utilizes library catalog and other digital resources. 

 

  • Answers telephone; answering questions appropriate to skill level; relays messages to appropriate individuals; performs various procedures to open and close library; turning one/off lights, checking doors and restrooms, straightening chairs, picking up materials, etc.

 

  • Operates standard library equipment such as audio-visual equipment, copiers, microform machines, etc.

 

  • Assists patrons with routine location questions and refers patrons to other staff as needed; instructs patrons in the use of library equipment.

  • Provide in-take procedures to families who are struggling to pay their utility bills for the entire Jackson/Winn Parishes area using a system called LIHEAP (Low-income home energy assistance program) that is federally funded by The Department of Health and Human Services.   

 

  • Knowledgeable with local, state and federal programs that address self-sufficiency. Responsible for appointment/application intake and file maintenance.  Processes customer applications to determine eligibility.  Assist with the scheduling of customer appointments. Responsible for attending board meetings and training.  Responsible for any other duties as assigned. 

 

  • Conduct outreach to local schools, churches, mayor’s offices, apartment complex managers and community events. 

 

  • Input data from homes that were being weatherized.

 

 

Administrative Assistant – HELP Agency, Ruston, LA  March 2017 to November 26, 2018 

  • Direct and supervise all program activities. Monitor performance of employees. Report on programs as required. Responsible for organization and implementation of all training programs; Evaluate progress of programs and coordinates employee training; Assist with hiring employees within the Agency; Serves as Equal Opportunity Officer; Serve as principal officer in the absence of the Executive Director in matters which can be legally done so; Assist Executive

Executive Secretary–HELP Agency, Ruston, LA▪ October 2006–April 2013 

Direct and complete routine secretarial and clerical functions; 

Welcome clients/visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries; 

Direct clients/visitors by maintaining employee and department directories; giving instructions; 

Maintain files, type records and correspondence, act as receptionist;

Serves as Control Officer for the LIHEAP Utility Program that include but not limited to preparing weekly invoices, routing documents needed to complete applications, and etc. 

Responsible for scheduling customer appointments and all other duties as deemed necessary by the Director; 

Assists with preparation and distribution of commodities, food baskets, pens-to-pencils and etc.; Prepare and mail correspondence to local tripartite board members. 

Responsible for attending state conferences/meeting during designated times; 

Maintaining a safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations by vacuuming, tiding office space and general trash duty at various times during the week; 

Assist Transportation Dispatcher by answering telephone, scheduling rides, pick-ups and dispatching calls back to drivers; 

Collect and prepare monthly reports on all activities (gathered for quarterly reports) of the agency to be presented to Case Manager/Executive Director 

Properly maintaining and rearranging of files in file cabinet for all agency program activities (sorting and boxing of old files); 

Participate in area Health Fairs and other meetings in the absence of Executive Director (only when designated to do so); and other duties assigned by Executive Director.
