Experience
Hess Corporation 2020 – 2025
Geological Advisor / Petrophysicist | Exploration Houston, Texas
- Member of Exploration Geologic excellence team with a focus on advanced petrophysical analysis.
- Supported two subsurface groups (Gulf of America and Guyana) in exploration with regional studies and operations.
- Utilize various datasets to provide a full petrophysical analysis for each asset. Whether wireline or LWD data.
- Lead Petrophysicist on two deep-water wells in the Gulf of America with budgets well above 150 million dollars. Utilized relationships with services to procure the best cost effective technology to be used while drilling and analyzing data post well.
- Worked closely with subsurface, drilling engineers and porepressure analysts to integrate petrophysical interpretations into their decision making processes real time. Using well log and core data to make the best interpretation.
- Worked closely with reservoir engineers post-well to help integrate interpretations in their geologic and simulation models to maximize full recovery of the resource.
- Interpreted over 30 production lateral wells and 2 appraisal wells using LWD data in the Guyana basin and delivered to subsurface team post well to include in their geomodels.
- Helped to describe 8 whole cores on Guyana exploration wells. Integrating learnings to production well data.
- Became the subject matter expert interpreting LWD AUDR (Azimuthal Ultra Deep Resistivity) data in the production wells in the Guyana basin.
Hess Corporation 2015 – 2020
Sr. Geologist | Exploration / New Ventures Houston, Texas
- Member of Atlantic margins regional exploration team evaluating farm-in and bid round opportunities while conducting regional studies of frontier basins. Studies completed; Offshore Ireland, Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Southern Gabon, Sergipe / Brazil, and Potiguar / Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Falkland Islands
- Visit data rooms, interpret data, summarize and risk opportunities, present findings to VP/SVP and submit a strategic recommendation for farm-in or lease bidding.
- Interpret 2D and 3D seismic datasets to help create regional geologic models and identify leads in exploration for hydrocarbon traps.
- Analyze and interpret all available data to create structure, isopach, property maps, stratigraphic charts and cross sections to explain depositional environments. Use these products to identify key risks, estimate prospect success, and high-grade areas for exploration opportunities.
- Work closely with reservoir engineers to integrate G&G work into their economic analysis that drives decisions on access strategies.
- Constantly evaluating industry activity through scout information to understand exploration strategies and key plays within regional study areas.
- Prepare recommendations for buying and compiling regional data in frontier areas including: spec seismic surveys, geochemical surveys, well files, geological reports and participation in regional study groups.
Hess Corporation 2012 – 2015
Sr. Geologist | Capture and Appraise Houston, Texas
- Member of G&G subsurface Utica Shale, Ohio asset team handling new acreage appraisal.
- Utilizing all available data (E-Logs, mudlogs, core, production and 2D/3D seismic) to create regional 3D geologic model of the Appalachian basin.
- Create structure, isopach, property maps and cross sections to explain depositional environment, basin trends, and “sweet spot” identification to drive future acreage acquisitions.
- Generate static volumetric values, gas in place calculations, and reservoir properties as input into the dynamic reservoir simulation model used to calculate estimated ultimate recovery and recovery factor in a regional context.
- Evaluate geological uncertainties in the subsurface and impact on reservoir model
- Generate 3D discrete natural fracture network model using FMI and sonic data to understand natural fracture system and impact on wellbore stimulation
- Present on data and maps to help evaluate economic feasibility of many target horizons within lease area
- Guide field wide technology acquisition plan to help in understanding of multiple target reservoirs
- Work closely with production, commercial and land departments to create future 3 year field development plan, evaluate various scenarios to run within reservoir decision analysis models
- Establish and maintain relationship with JV partners, participate as an active member of technical committee to exchange ideas with partners on geologic understanding of Utica play
- Construct geoprogs for well planning, meeting all permitting, drilling, completion and legal land requirements
- Mentor new Geologists and be available to advise on geologic operations and geosteering. Maintain open communication with drilling, completions, and production engineers to ensure success of all wells
- Assessing all service companies; E-logs, mudlogging, geosteering, coring, geochem and advanced cutting analysis, working with global supply chain to negotiate contracts. Once contracted, supervise all companies to ensure delivery of good data quality
Hess Corporation 2011 – 2012
Sr. Geologist | Unconventional Developments Houston, Texas
- Member of G&G subsurface Eagleford Shale, South Texas asset team
- Using all pilot hole and horizontal data to complete cross section, isopach, and structure maps of all target horizons within lease area
- Created geologic operations workflow for newly acquired Eagleford asset while mentoring new operations geologists
- Generate development plan for 500 horizontal wells over 80,000 acres working within lease boundaries
- Construct geoprogs for wellplanning, meeting all drilling, completion and legal land requirements
- Spot drill site locations using lidar data in ArcGIS software package, while consulting with land surveyors, brokers and land department
- Geosteered over 20 wells within 25’ target interval using real-time M/LWD data and drill cutting sample descriptions
