About Mirabelle Brown:
Growing up in New York meant my summers were always split between France and Oregon, my mother's and father's side of the family respectively. Not only did this give me the chance to explore both Europe and the other side my country from a young age, but the suburbs also gifted me the proximity to the Big Apple without the constant bustle and chaos of its streets. The city offers its own unique array of countless and incredible opportunities, but California and the good vibes of the West Coast were too appealing when it came to college.
Though I am now 3,000+ miles away from the place I used to call home, I have found a wonderful and welcoming community at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where I am pursuing a double major in the Bachelor's of Science degree in Environmental Studies and Financial Math and Statistics.
My interests in these degrees stem specifically from AP Statistics, Calculus BC, and Environmental Science, my favorite classes in High School. These curiosities also developed through my involvement in clubs, such as my role as president of the Eco Club, and member and tutor for the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society.
At UCSB, I have gotten myself involved in intramural volleyball, soccer, and ultimate frisbee. I am also participating in the Leadership Training Course run by the Adventure Programs in order to acquire multiple certifications and eventually learn to be a guide for organizations like this. So far, we have gone rock climbing, surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddle-boarding, and canoeing along the Colorado River.
Overall, through my involvement in team sports and this outdoor program, my leadership qualities are already, and will continue to, improve, while my organizational and time-management skills are ameliorating due to my workload. I am a very positive, energetic, driven, adventurous, thoughftul, and enthusiastic person, and my favorite pastime is asking questions!
