About Miguel Cervantes:

I’m currently a highschool senior who likes to get involved in the various activities offered by my community. Since by keeping myself open to every opportunity I am able to pick up new skills and reinforce my previous ones.

  • I’ve been a part of FCCLA for four years which provided an avenue for me to help out with volunteer work in the Lake Stevens community. Through FCCLA I got my food handlers card so that I would be able to help in the area of food service. Most recently I took up the day shift at our artwork fair preparing Italian sodas and clam chowder bread bowls to help raise money for our grad night. While working there I learned how to operate as a cohesive unit in the kitchen which made our lunch rushes much easier to get through.
  • I was also president of the NJHS where I developed the communication skills to be not just an effective intermediary between our student body and faculty but also be able to provide concise and direct solutions to the goals we were tasked with completing.
  • At my old school I was first chair and section leader for the clarinet in the school’s wind ensemble. Which meant that the rest of my section looked to me as the person who would not only help them but also the person who would keep them accountable regular practice. Over the course of the my time there I learned how to lead through example for my section and how to organize with them to get together and correct any issues in our playing.
  • I have also played a variety of sports such as cross country, wrestling, track, soccer, and karate. One skill that has remained unanimously useful in every single one of these sports is being effective at encouraging your teammate. Since the bond you build while doing so not only strengthens the performance of that individual teammate but goes on to impact the success of the team as a whole.

Experience

I’ve volunteered in food service for about four years.

Education

I am currently In highschool and I’ve earned some college credit through AP classes, college in the high school, and the running start program.
