About Michele Strahin:
I have extensive experience managing offices within both the human services industry as well as the dental industry. I am passionate about helping others be successful and I truly enjoy advocating for others as well as providing guidance and assistance to anyone in need of support. My human service background provided me with a solid foundation for promoting person centered services/ treat planning and I consistently strive to provide services and assistance that is unique to that individual. I also enjoy the business aspect of managing offices and thrive on reducing waste, auditing charts and records and securing revenue that was overlooked. In addition, I promote teamwork, encourage collaboration and believe that a team is only as strong as it’s weakest lin. I also offer 20+ years of staff training and development, onboarding and HR support as well as assisting with marketing of services via community presentation, job fairs, etc. I am eager to pursue new opportunities and challenges that will allow me to utilize more of my skills as well as allow me to become a true asset to an organization or corporation. I am flexible with my availability, open to working additional hours in order to assist the team, cross training and continuing to build my skill set!
Experience
22 years working in human services, primarily in a leadership position. I have extensive experience managing and supervising various levels of care within OMH licensed housing programs as well as providing case management services, evaluating length of stay and discharge readiness, coordinating admissions and discharges, and engaging in crisis intervention. In addition, I was overall responsible for effectively managing several departments, hiring and training all support staff, staff scheduling, adhering to and developing program budgets, bank reconciliation, sourcing and procurement of office equipment, auditing resident charts to determine accuracy of coding for rehabilitative services, onsite and off site New Employee Orientation, payroll review and submission, and assisting with HR duties. I worked closely several SPOA committees, state and county hospitals, community providers and families to both promote services as well as determine priority for admission. I was also highly involved in Quality Management, Risk Management, Cultural Diversity, and Policy and procedure committees as well as developed internal training programs and reference materials for new staff. Over the course of the last 9 years I have continued to utilize many of the same skills I learned while working in human services and transferred my management and supervisory skills to the dental industry. As an Office Manager and Practice Manager I have been responsible for becoming proficient with insurance verification, treatment planning and submission to request services, the accurate and timely submission of claims, appeals and denials, minimizing accounts receivable and maximizing on production. I provide patient advocacy, act as a liaison to the doctor, prepare the office for audits, credentialing, fee negotiation, budget review and revision, staff hiring and training, HR responsibilities of payroll, FMLA, etc, calculate and collect copay’s, bank reconciliation, HIPAA, OSHA training and addressing both staff concerns and patient care issues. I promote and provide exceptional customer service to patients and family members and have been recognized for developing and maintaining positive and professional relationships with staff, community providers and patients. I strive to promote a team environment and readily offer assistance and support to departments and team members as needed and ensure that I am approachable and available at all times.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Minor in Psychology with a concentration in Criminal Justice. I have attended numerous trainings and seminars throughout my professional career as well as developed training programs and supportive resources.
