About Madeline Skapik:
A highly motivated and versatile Bachelor of Science graduate with a major in Environmental Science and Policy from University of South Florida.
Comprehensive knowledge of biological processes and systems, laboratory methods and greenhouse maintenance. A quick learner who is easily adaptable in fast-paced environments, with the ability to combine academic knowledge and practical training to produce the best outputs. A great team player and loves to see people around me succeed!
Experience
My work spans from aquatic and terrestrial environmental research to advanced algal biotechnology and agronomy.
My most recent role was as a Research Associate II at Viridos, where I designed and conducted experiments to optimize algal growth, maintain critical monitoring equipment, and support lab operations. Prior to this, I was a Research Agronomy Technician at Cibus, managing the full greenhouse crop cycle and implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) protocols in a bio-secure environment.
Earlier, I worked at Woods Consulting as a Field and Permit Technician, where I conducted aquatic vegetation surveys and prepared environmental permit applications for marina projects.
I've also completed two internships—at the Botanical Gardens and Wildlands Conservation—gaining hands-on experience in plant care, invasive species management, wildlife surveys, and data processing for conservation efforts.
I bring a mix of technical proficiency (lab work, data handling, MS Office), fieldwork competence, a strong work ethic, and a positive, team-oriented mindset.
