As the Lead investigator for the CDTFA Bakersfield office, I plan, organized, and directed the workload of four inspectors and participate in conduct inspections of distributors, wholesalers, and retailers of cigarettes and tobacco products for compliance with the tax laws administered by the CDTFA.  This working relationship required an environment of inclusiveness to achieve departmental goals.  This type of teamwork enabled the Bakersfield office to work together to achieve office goals.

Prior to my current assignment as Lead investigator, I worked in the Fresno CDTFA office as an inspector.  I was able to maintain effective working relationships with my peers, particularly this position required two weeks of travel in a month, while working 10 hours a day conducting inspections.  Understanding each peer’s personality traits provided for an effective working relationship.  Also, constant communication allowed for cooperative or coordinated efforts on the part of a group acting together as a team to meet department and office goals. 

During my tenure with the State of California, I was responsible for providing administrative support by designing tracking mechanisms to ensure compliance with contracts and developing interagency agreements; long and short-term contracts and other related documents to obtain products for CCFC.  During my tenure with the Employment Development Department (EDD), I was responsible for developing and providing statewide training on various provisions of the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) and Welfare to Work. Other skills sets acquired with the EDD that relate to your position are oral presentations to large and small groups and program compliance reviews of various program.  Served as the Director’s Office liaison to various employment development entities regarding employment and training special projects. Provided guidance to Branch staff responsible for implementing the Director’s initiatives, e.g., Welfare to Work Skills Upgrading, Faith Based Training, Foster Care and other related employment and training projects. 

As a graduate at California State University, Fresno, I received my degree in Social Work.  My education provides me with the necessary skillset to work with a diverse group of people regardless income, educational, gender or ethnic background.
