Paramount Pictures Aug 2018 – present

Position: Director, Workflow Optimization  

Supervisor: Andrea Kalas, SVP Asset Management and Archive

  • Supervise and schedule a team of 4 original deliverables ingest asset managers.
  • Oversee the taxonomy, metadata, and ingest for new release original content associated with Feature and TV, for physical and digital media, including but not limited to: 2D/3D, 4K, Animation, DI, NAM, GAM, VAM, CTM, OCF, VFX, Dailies, AVID, DCP, HDR, SDR, IMAX, ATMOS, OV Theatrical/Nearfield and Worldwide Print Masters, Stems, Raw, ADR, VO, Pre-dub audio, and Podcast to ensure assets are accurately preserved and archived for all future non-theatrical sales and licenses. 
  • Work directly with Production Post, Content Security, and post vendor facilities defining delivery requirements, tech specs, and best archival processes.
  • Responsible for 2D/3D Digital Intermediate preservation. Work with DI producers to ensure renders are delivered to Paramount tech specs. Supervise and approve all DI Validation QC before archiving.
  • Establish best practices for digital workflow initiatives leveraging AWS cloud and (DAM) solutions. Partner with remote teams on asset file delivery to both internal and external constituents. Manage AWS cloud, onboard vendors, established delivery spec (folder structure, file naming), and designate S3 bucket permissions.
  • Stakeholder in managing the storage volumes for digital archive and on lot digital post services.
  • Govern Paramount’s Delivery Requirements for Feature/TV Paramount produced, Co-Fi, and Acquisitions. I work closely with post, editorial, legal, creative development, marketing, publicity, music legal, worldwide localization, and mastering within the studio to update asset requirements, tech specs,  delivery guidelines and distribution requirements. Help negotiate third-party asset delivery requirements, determine access only items, and coordinate file movement. (Amazon/Netflix)  
  • Developed ingest display in new system to standardize the classification of assets. The new ingest screen harmonized metadata between physical and digital inventories and removed the inapplicable attributes from the users’ view and significantly reduced metadata errors.
  • Lead on CBS OPIS archival database migration to Paramount’s Alias system. Creating new taxonomy and mapping metadata for CBS physical and digital assets, locations, shipping, and customer data tables. 
  • Supervised Miramax inventory migrations to Paramount archive, mapped metadata for automated archiving and, safeguarded consistent cataloging across libraries.

 

Paramount Pictures Nov 2011 – Aug 2018

Position: Inventory Logistics, Paramount Archives

Supervisor: Andrea Kalas, VP Archives

  • Team leader in authoring the new taxonomy and metadata schema for one of the most significant content migration projects at Paramount Pictures, merging the physical and digital database systems into one archival and distribution system (Alias).  The Journal of Digital Media Management published an article based on this work.  “One system to rule them all: The story of merging two inventory management systems.” 
  • Managed and reported annual insurance coverage for Paramount’s significant rights titles. I applied individual insurance values to over 3,000 Feature, TV, and Shorts titles based on rights, digital preservation, and geographical separation.
  • In charge of large inventory movement initiatives, coordinate with legal, new rights holders, studios, and vendors worldwide.  Lead full library movements for Marvel and DreamWorks Animation. Performed worldwide inventory reviews with a focus on physical destruction and reducing storage costs. 

Paramount Pictures Jun 2006 – May 2011

Position: Sr. Audio Manager, Worldwide Technical Operations Mastering 

Supervisor: Kirsten Pielstick, Exec Dir Mastering 

  • Worked closely with various studio departments to ensure the timely creation and delivery of worldwide audio for new release, catalog, acquisition, and TV product.
  • Scheduled and delivered all audio mixes associated with BD/DVD production.
  • Initiated and managed worldwide non-theatrical language dubbing for new release and catalog production. 
  • Supervised 5.1 Nearfield, M&E, foreign language sound mixes and audio restoration projects for catalog titles. (i.e. Godfather, Indian Jones, Beverly Hills Cops)
  • Created schedules and specs for audio deliverables.

Paramount Pictures Jan 2003 – Jun 2005

Position: DVD Project Manager, Worldwide DVD Production & Mastering

Supervisor: Jeff Radoycis, SVP WW Product Production 

  • Responsible for all HD/SD mastering aspects for BD/DVD new release and catalog feature, trailer, and special feature content.
  • Ordered HD telecine transfer master, SD NTSC and PAL down conversions, and work tape assets.
  • Coordinated foreign audio, full and forced subtitles conforms and crafted menu chapter stops.
  • Liaison between authoring/compression, mastering, subtitle, audio, menu, and QC companies.  

Image Entertainment Jul 1997 – Dec 2002

Position: Production Manager International Programming

Supervisor: Frank Hall/Jeff Lewis, VP DVD Mastering Operation

  • Effectively supported the high volume of concurrent production for Laserdisc transitioning to DVD, averaging 30 titles per month.
  • Scheduled staff of 18 consisting of editors, QC, DVD project managers, menu designers and C&A.
  • Coordinated and delivered assets to 15 sublicense territories worldwide for localization.
  • Serviced over 50 broadcast facilities worldwide with spec specific video, and audio masters.
  • Direct contact with major motion picture studios, licensors, talent, post production facilities, Dolby, DTS and THX consultants.
