Kevin Gartner

My name is Kevin and I am a certified EKG technician and recent college graduate who is eager to gain more hands on experience in the healthcare field. I am very interested in the field of cardiology, and have a passion for pursuing a career in the field. My skills include proficiency in rhythm strip interpretations and in performing 12-lead EKG's. I am also very knowledgeable in Holter Monitoring and stress testing.  

Currently I am working as a monitor technician in the realm of tele-medicine. My responsibilities in this role consist of recording and sending rhythm strips to client hospitals. Identifying rhythms and alerting bedside of any dangerous rhythms, as well as of any interruptions in service. This role has allowed me to gain exposure to the different types of systems used in telemetry monitoring, and as such, I am proficient in most monitoring systems.  

I recently graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in biology. As someone who plans to pursue a future career in healthcare, my undergraduate studies heavily focused on anatomy and medical studies. I feel I have gained a solid foundation of cardiac anatomy and physiology in particular, as that is the field I am most currently interested in pursuing. 

Furthermore, I took an EKG technician course at Houston Community College (HCC).This course taught both the interpretation skills needed to be a successful monitor technician, as well as the skills needed to perform 12-lead EKG's. This course also emphasized the importance of proper beside manner and patient care etiquette, skills of which I believe will help me succeed as an effective EKG technician.
