Non-profit / Volunteering
About Keith Dent:
I’m a mission-driven nonprofit executive and leadership coach dedicated to helping people and communities reach their full potential. With more than 20 years of experience leading youth development, entrepreneurship, and social impact initiatives, I have built a career centered on expanding access and opportunity for underserved populations.
As the former Director of Capital Readiness at the Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership, I developed strategies that connect entrepreneurs from historically excluded communities to the funding, mentorship, and resources they need to grow. Previously, I served as Executive Director of HAVEN Adolescent Community Respite Center, where I guided the organization through a post-pandemic transformation and strengthened its reach to vulnerable youth across Hudson County.
A former college baseball player turned leadership coach, I bring the same principles from the field—discipline, teamwork, and perseverance—into his approach to building strong, equitable communities. I also the host of the Black Men Speak podcast, a platform that amplifies the voices and stories of Black men redefining success, leadership, and joy.
I have a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from The New School and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Georgetown University. His work continues to be driven by a simple belief: when people are seen, supported, and given access, they can transform not only their own lives but the communities around them.
In my free time, I love cycling and listening to music. I’m married to my wife of 29 years and have 3 kids.
Experience
In my role as Director of Capital Readiness at the Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership, I designed and executed complex programs connecting entrepreneurs from historically excluded communities to funding and business development resources. I implemented data-driven tracking systems, coordinated cross-functional teams, and facilitated partnerships that enhanced program reach and effectiveness—skills that translate directly to overseeing CBS’s Executive Education portfolio.
As Executive Director of HAVEN Adolescent Community Respite Center, I led day-to-day operations, managed an $800,000 budget, and implemented performance management systems to monitor outcomes and optimize program delivery. My experience at Rising Tide Capital further demonstrates my ability to scale initiatives, build strategic partnerships, and foster operational efficiency across multiple programs serving diverse populations. Throughout these roles, I have prioritized mentoring staff, fostering collaborative team dynamics, and creating inclusive environments where talent thrives—key elements for leading CBS’s team of Assistant and Associate Directors
Education
I have a master's degree in Non-Profit Management from the New School of Social Research in New York City.
I received my bachelor's degree from Georgetown University with a concentration in Business Administration.
