Jordan Girga

I'm a hardworking, efficient, and smart worker. I have carried shifts at other jobs not because I have to, but because I want to be the best person I can be. After years of just having jobs, I want to be working towards building a career in a field that I can excel at while having something more sustainable than my previous jobs. I have a bit of off-the-books experience in doing this through helping a family member renovate her basement by running wire throughout the house and installing lights, switches, and fuses amongst other things related to construction. I believe this is something I would like to do as a full-time job because I would like something I can do with my hands and do more physical labor as opposed to just sitting at a desk typing all day. It's hard for me to just sit still, so I am looking for something that will make me move around and help me exercise my brain so it doesn't feel like I am just doing the same exact thing every day.

 My work experience is short but very educational. I volunteered for Goodwill at 055 N 91st St, Milwaukee, WI 53225. My positions were Dishwasher, Sous-Chef, and Server. I have learned how to look for the small details as I did my work, take initiative when it is needed, and how to talk and deal with difficult customers.

 The next job I would hold for the 2017 summer would be a line cook at a Mexican grill called Mis Suenos located on 7335 W Greenfield Ave, West Allis, WI 53214. I had all the job responsibilities that I had at Cafe 1919, but a few more including restocking, and closing at night. The way this job differs from Cafe 1919 is the way I had to deal with orders. At cafe 1919, it was a set menu where everyone ate the same thing, but at Mis Suenos, I had to make meals to order which can become a daunting taste during long rushes. Quickly I learned how to adapt and take everything one at a time to make everything a lot simpler.

  I also have work experience working for a small company called Sky Zone, which was a skyline and rope course in the Milwaukee zoo. I worked there during the 2019 summer, in which I was put through training to use harnesses and safety procedures among other things. It has taught me a lot about customer service and how to deal with some difficult and stressful situations. I would also like to say how much I did like working there, and how much pride I had while wearing the uniform during my long shifts.

  After 2020’s covid shutdown, it was hard for me to find a job. After a while, I was able to secure a job at Jimmy Johns as a inshopper. I’ve held this job for a year and a half where I assembled sandwiches and helped with the general upkeep of its sanitary needs. The job was a great environment with great co-workers and managers who all shared the goal of keeping the place as efficient and welcoming as possible. I have nothing but great things to say about my experience there and I am grateful for the opportunity that I was given. I learned how to better manage work-related stress in a healthier way so I can be more efficient, and quicker at daily tasks so I can have more time to do things in between meal time rushes. 
 

 I graduated from Milwaukee Marshall High School in the year of 2017. I have taken woodshop and engineering while taking on my regular classes. In my extracurricular classes, I have had a B average, while my classes were a B- average. I have some college experience but had to drop out due to family issues I could not ignore.
