Experience

English/ESOL teacher at public schools and universities in the USA, Taiwan, and Algeria. As an ESOL teacher, I taught all ages and ability levels, from pre-K to adults. My method is to understand every student's ability level, write learning goals with students, and then use learning portfolios to document student English language growth as it relates to their goals. Fun, yet challenging, student-centered lessons and units included reading and writing strategies and authentic speaking and listening activities.

I trained and mentored 100s or English teachers in Taiwan. Currently in Algeria, I am an English Language Fellow working in the English Teaching Department at a Ecole Normale Superiere, the most prestigious university in Algeria. My teacher training course include classroom management, technology, portfolios, classroom mangagment, creating positive relationships with parents and students, and gamefication.

Education

In 2007, I finished my Master's Degree in Education. The focus was literacy and learning strategies. While I was living in Portland, Oregon, I began my Master's Degree at Lewis and Clark College. When I moved to Taiwan, I was able to transfer my credits and finish online. My lessons help students acquire English quickly and permanently, but I also use the reading, writing, thinking, and learning strategies that I learned at a graduate student to teach my students how to be independent learners.
