About John McMahon:
I am a young professional, proficient in forestry consulting, environmental operations, logistics, geospatial information systems, and tech & customer support for a variety of organizations. Currently studying as a front end web developer and continuing my journey as a lifelong learner. I take great joy in solving problems creatively through interdisciplinary thinking.
Experience
I have a wide range of professional experience. Most recently, I was employed as part-time a copy-writer for a real estate company that does a variety of open-land purchasing. Before that, I was employed with ACRT Pacific, a utility forestry consulting agency. For this company, I worked with multitudes of customers to access their private lands in order to patrol the power lines for potentially dangerous trees and brush that might affect the lines. I would work with customers to mitigate these brush/tree problems, and provided on-site support during tree removals. I have also been a field associate and a sales associate. Both jobs required front-facing skills such as customer relations and organization of labors. At my job for Redwood Coast Energy Authority, from 2017-19, I performed technical analysis and feasibility studies for energy saving measures and completed various projects that allowed for the community to effectively save energy across residential and commercial businesses.
Education
I got my bachelors degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, majoring in Environmental Studies; Environmental Quality: Air, Water, and Soil. After graduating, I attained a GIS geospatial data analyst certificate from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. I am currently studying front end web development with Udemy's Colt Steele.
