Hello, my name is Jasper Frazee and I am a recent graduate of the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. I additionally graduated from the Global Communities living-learning program at the end of my sophomore year where I gained a better understanding of the increasingly globalized world we live in. My biggest interests within chemical engineering are polymer science and electrochemical energy engineering. I also found a passion for using systems engineering principles in project management to provide structural organization to engineering ventures. My biggest strength in life is my ability to give technical explanations in a way that is simple to understand. I am mild-mannered and open-minded, making me a strong member of a group whether I need to step up and lead or just bring my individual strengths.
The skills that make me a strong engineer are my logical reasoning and decision-making, and my ability to find a creative approach to solving problems. I am a visual thinker who excels in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, which I took two courses to study in high school and put to the test in my group project designing an over-sand vehicle as a first-semester freshman at UMD. As a senior I completed three process design projects, putting my chemical engineering knowledge to the test to fully detail and specify a chemical manufacturing process. The topics of these projects were a cyclohexanone plant, a Haber-Bosch ammonia plant, and the manufacturing of an adenovirus-based COVID-19 vaccine. Process design was completed with economic analysis, start-up and maintenance procedures, and thorough process safety guidelines.
I see myself as a strong fit for a position in manufacturing between my field of education and my personal skill set. My biggest interest within manufacturing I found in my studies was the field of polymer science, which I specialized in at the University of Maryland. Additionally, I have a big personal interest in the manufacturing of food, as I love to cook and even have experience working in a kitchen at the Metropolitan in Annapolis. The positional fit I see for myself is one where I am a middleman that works with people of many different backgrounds and skillsets to solve problems and ensure that the many pieces of a project fall perfectly into place.
In May of 2021 I graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. My biggest interests within this field are systems engineering, polymer science, and electrochemical engineering. I additionally graduated from the Global Communities Living-Learning program at UMD, where I focused on becoming a global citizen in an increasingly globalized world.
I am very excited to begin my professional development in a chemical engineering career. My search for an internship in my junior year was very negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. I am a very hard worker and very adaptable, and can't wait to give my all to a company that takes a chance on me.
