About Jaroslaw Pogoda

I am Jaroslaw Pogoda, a full-stack developer based in New York. With experience in NodeJS, ReactJS, SQL, Servlets, and .Net Framework MVC, I bring a mix of reliability, passion, problem-solving skills and strong leadership to the table. I am known for my ability to work efficiently in teams and for my knack for following directions.

My front-end skills include HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, ReactJS, JQuery, Bootstrap, and React-Native. On the back end, I am proficient in Java8, C++11, .Net Framework, C# .Net, Nodejs Express, and R. I have extensive experience working with databases such as MySql, Firebase, S3, RDS, MongoDB, SQL Server, and ORACLE DB. I am also well-versed with cloud platforms including Azure, GCP, AWS, and Google Cloud Functions.

Beyond these, I have other skills such as proficiency with Github, MS Office, and Math Lab, along with proficiency in TypeScript and SSMS. I am also bilingual, fluent in Polish and English.

In my professional journey, I have worked with Gesture as a full-stack software engineer since August 2022. My role involved working with a team of talented developers and bringing new features and design to the Gesture 3.0 Runner mobile app for their delivery team. I utilize TypeScript, React, and React-Native to build the app. I also assist with proposing changes to improve user experience and have been a part of a team utilizing Scrum for biweekly sprints.

As part of my role at Gesture, I created MVP Webpages, the backend, services, and front end for Gesture partners and the Gesture Merchant platform. I have also worked with the design team to change and improve the functionality of the Gesture Runner App. Before this, I was a full-stack developer intern at the same company from March to August 2022.

Between November 2021 and March 2022, I was a Software Engineering Learner at Per Scholas. Prior to that, I founded Pogoda Software in August 2021 and have been developing software for community and small businesses using UpWork to build and develop web/mobile applications to meet customer needs using the FERN stack.

One of my significant projects was with a company called Ensync Interactive Contracting for Stellar Services. Here, we created a data migration for the NYS Education Department PMIS Service. This involved working with Java8, C# SQL Server and SSIS package that converted Dbase Files to a Relational Model in Oracle SQL Server. The project involved converting over 54 tables and 293 columns with over 87,000 records. I created a custom TSQL code solution for Quality Assurance and developed and corrected an SSIS package for NYC and Rest of State data.

In terms of education, I obtained a Master of Business Administration from Adams State University, Online in September 2023, after completing my Bachelor of Computer Science from CUNY Queens College, New York in February 2016.

Experience

I am a Full-Stack Developer with a comprehensive background in front-end and back-end technologies, database management, and cloud services. With several years of experience in the field, I have developed a deep understanding of NodeJS, ReactJS, SQL, Servlets, and .Net Framework MVC.

In my most recent role as a Full Stack Software Engineer at Gesture, I worked on bringing new features and design to the Gesture 3.0 Runner mobile app. This involved extensive use of TypeScript, React, and React-Native. I was also responsible for creating and managing the backend, services, and front end for Gesture partners and the Gesture Merchant platform. Prior to this, I served as a Full Stack Developer Intern at Gesture, where I contributed to enhancing the user experience of the Gesture mobile app which has more than 2 million installs.

Before joining Gesture, I was a Software Engineering Learner at Per Scholas, where I honed my technical skills and gained valuable industry knowledge. In addition to my roles, I founded Pogoda Software, where I created software for community and small businesses, using the FERN stack to build and develop web/mobile applications according to customer needs.

Education

 I work toward a Master of Business Administration from Adams State University. During my time there, from July 2020 to September 2024, I developed a broad understanding of business management principles. This program helped me strengthen my strategic thinking, decision-making skills, and understanding of business operations, which I believe are beneficial in any technical role.

Before that, I completed my Bachelor of Computer Science at CUNY Queens College, New York, from January 2012 to February 2016. This program laid the foundation of my technical knowledge. I learned various programming languages, data structures, algorithms, databases, and more. It was during this time that I developed a strong interest in full-stack development.

These educational experiences, combined with my practical experience in the field, have equipped me with a unique blend of technical and business acumen.

In addition to my formal education, I also completed a rigorous Software Engineering boot camp at Per Scholas, a respected institute known for its intensive industry-aligned training programs. From November 2021 to March 2022, I immersed myself in a hands-on learning environment, developing practical skills in various aspects of Software Engineering.

The boot camp covered a comprehensive curriculum including front-end and back-end development, cloud computing, and database management. This immersive experience allowed me to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, working on real-world projects and solving complex problems.

In this boot camp, I was introduced to the latest industry tools and technologies, and I learned to collaborate effectively with peers on multiple projects, simulating the dynamic teamwork found in tech environments. This experience further solidified my technical skills and prepared me for the fast-paced, problem-solving nature of the tech industry.
