About jacques chenet:
I’m an Environmental, Health & Safety professional with a strong background in high‑risk operations, program development, and compliance. My experience spans Navy shipyard environments and civilian industries where I’ve rebuilt critical safety programs, including forklift operations, eyewash/chemical safety, hazard communication, and site‑specific training.
I’m known for quickly identifying gaps, implementing practical solutions, and stabilizing operations. Several clients who were ready to leave their service provider stayed specifically because of the safety improvements and support I delivered. My work has prevented costly incidents, reduced workers’ comp exposure, and protected significant revenue.
I bring a calm, structured, solutions‑focused approach and am now seeking a full‑time EHS leadership role where I can continue building strong safety programs and improving operational performance.
Experience
I have extensive experience leading safety oversight, hazard control, and operational risk management across industrial, maintenance, and high‑risk environments. During my service aboard USS Lake Champlain (CG‑57) and USS Decatur (DDG‑73), I supervised safety practices during shipyard maintenance, system testing, and daily operations, conducting inspections, hazard assessments, emergency response drills, and procedural compliance checks across multiple work centers. As a qualified Naval Safety Technician and Safety Supervisor, I enforced safety standards, corrected deficiencies, and coordinated with engineering and shipyard teams to ensure safe execution of maintenance and high‑risk evolutions. In my civilian work, I continued supporting multi‑industry environments by rebuilding safety programs, improving compliance, and delivering practical training that strengthened safety culture and reduced operational risk. My background reflects a consistent ability to stabilize operations, enhance readiness, and build effective, real‑world safety systems
Education
I completed extensive professional military education and safety training through the U.S. Navy, with a strong emphasis on operational risk management, hazard identification, and safety leadership in high‑risk environments. My formal training includes the Naval Safety Technician qualification (NEC 825A), Naval Safety Supervisor certification, and advanced emergency response instruction through the Security Reaction Force–Advanced program. I also completed the Navy Instructor Training Course, which strengthened my ability to deliver safety training, develop curriculum, and lead workforce education. Additional coursework in navigation, systems operations, and technical compliance further reinforced my ability to manage procedures, maintain accuracy, and support safe operations. Collectively, this training reflects more than a decade of structured safety development, compliance oversight, and program execution in demanding operational settings.
